Hi George , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
At the time, I had been working for the same company for over 20 years when the company went on strike. Although work had stopped, my responsibilities at home had not. I still had a family to provide for, bills to pay, and I knew I had to find a way to continue bringing in income.
I began thinking about the skills I already had and what I could do well. One thing I knew I was very good at was detailing vehicles. With very little money but a willingness to work, I started detailing the vehicles of people I met at my wife’s hairdresser’s salon.
What began as a way to simply make ends meet became the beginning of G&V Mobile Detail Services. I took the skills I already had, combined them with hard work, determination, and a commitment to providing quality service, and began building a business from the ground up.
G&V was not started with investors, a large amount of capital, or expensive equipment. It was started with $12, a skill, a need, and the determination to provide for my family. Over time, what began as a temporary way to earn additional income grew into a real business and an opportunity to provide work for others.
The foundation of G&V Mobile Detail Services has always been about more than cleaning vehicles. It represents perseverance, family, opportunity, and the belief that you can build something meaningful even when you have very little to start with.
Today, I can truly say that God has graced and blessed G&V Mobile Detail Services to grow and do very well. What started as a small effort to make ends meet has grown into a business that is now able to create jobs and employ others. Being able to provide employment opportunities and help others provide for their families has been one of the greatest blessings of this journey.
Another meaningful part of this journey has been the opportunity to mentor young men. Through G&V, I have been able to do more than teach them how to detail vehicles or complete a job. I have had the opportunity to encourage them, teach responsibility, work ethic, accountability, consistency, and the importance of taking pride in what they do. Being able to pour into young men and help them see that they can build a better future for themselves has become one of the most rewarding parts of owning this business.
The story of G&V is a reminder that humble beginnings do not determine how far a business can go. With faith, perseverance, hard work, and a willingness to keep moving forward, something that started with only $12 has grown into a company that serves others, creates employment, mentors young people, and continues to make a positive impact in the community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. I believe many of the struggles I have faced along this journey have been more spiritual than anything else. There have been difficult seasons, setbacks, disappointments, and moments that you are tested, but through it all, God has always given me the grace to keep going.
Another challenge has been working in the cleaning and detailing industry. Sometimes people look down on this type of work or do not see the value, skill, and hard work that goes into it. I have learned not to let other people’s opinions define what we do or how far we can go.
G&V has come a long way from where it started, and I am proud of that journey. Every struggle has helped strengthen me, strengthen the business, and remind me that success does not always come without challenges. Through faith, perseverance, and the grace of God, we have continued to grow and move forward.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
What has worked for me is being intentional about building genuine relationships. I believe networking is more than just meeting people or exchanging information. It is about connecting with people, learning from them, staying in touch, and allowing relationships to grow over time.
When looking for a mentor, I would encourage people to find someone who has experience in an area where they want to grow and who is willing to share both their successes and their lessons. I also believe you have to be teachable. A mentor can give you guidance, but you have to be willing to listen, apply what you learn, and remain consistent.
For me, some of the best opportunities have come through simply showing up, doing good work, treating people well, and building trust. People remember how you conduct yourself. Being professional, dependable, and genuine has helped me form relationships that have opened doors for G&V.
I also believe you should never underestimate the value of talking to people. You never know who may be able to connect you to the right opportunity, give you useful advice, or introduce you to someone who can help you grow. Networking has worked best for me when I have focused on building real relationships instead of only thinking about what someone can do for me.
