Today we’d like to introduce you to Macey Orf.
Hi Macey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The story of ORF Home Inspections begins with my father, Chris Orf, who still owns and operates the company today. He had spent years building a career in construction when several friends began encouraging him to consider home inspections. Around that time, he reconnected with a cousin who, unbeknownst to him, had launched his own home inspection business in Oklahoma just a year or two prior. That reconnection proved pivotal — his cousin introduced him to a home inspection business coach whose guidance reshaped his approach and became instrumental in building ORF into what it is today. From there, ORF Home Inspections was born. As for my own path, I grew up around the business, though I didn’t originally set out to join it — I began my career at a few other local small businesses first. It was always understood that the company would stay in the family, but it wasn’t until I joined ORF in the spring of 2022 that I discovered how much I truly loved this work. Since then, I’ve grown into my current role as Marketing Director and General Manager, where I get to combine my passion for the business with a broader commitment to serving the real estate community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth, but every challenge along the way has shaped us into a stronger company. In the early days, my dad was doing it all — performing the inspections himself while also trying to build the business from the ground up, establish our reputation in the community, and grow a client base from scratch. Balancing the demands of running a business with being present for family wasn’t easy, especially in those first years when it truly was all hands on deck. Looking back, I think that’s exactly what shaped the culture we have today — we understand what it means to work hard for something you believe in, and that same dedication is what our clients and agent partners can count on every time we walk through a door.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As Marketing Director and General Manager of ORF Home Inspections, my professional life is built around a mix of creativity — design, strategy, and education — all in service of two things: growing our company, and growing the real estate community around us.
At ORF, we don’t just provide home inspections to buyers and sellers. We’ve built our brand around investing in the real estate agents we work with — offering educational classes on building their social media presence and developing their business, along with marketing materials and equipment they can use at their own events to grow and maintain their clientele. That’s the piece of our identity I’m most proud of: ORF isn’t just a home inspection company, it’s a business built to help other businesses succeed.
That same creative, service-driven mindset shows up in my own ventures, too. Back in 2020, at just 17 years old, I started Tees and Things by Macey, an apparel and gift business where I create closing gifts real estate agents can give their clients. Then, when ORF began offering agents equipment like photo booths for their events, I saw another opportunity and launched STL Snap Shot, my own photo booth rental business. Whether it’s through ORF or my own companies, what sets me apart is that I don’t just market a business — I build tools and experiences that help other people’s businesses thrive too.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Outside of work, I’m deeply involved in community service — specifically, I’ve been working to bring Safe Haven Baby Boxes to locations throughout Missouri. This 501(c) nonprofit provides crisis support and safe surrender opportunities for mothers, and it’s a cause that’s incredibly important to me. I previously raised funds for a box that will be installed at Central County Fire & Rescue Station #6 on Jungs Station Road, and I’m currently fundraising for a box at the Warrenton Fire Protection District Station 1. Each box can cost upwards of $16,000. Since they’re almost entirely community-funded, fundraising is a huge part of making them happen. It means a lot to me to help bring these life-saving resources to communities around me.
