Check Out Quahana Hendree’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quahana Hendree.

Hi Quahana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been making art since I was five, and creativity has been the thread through my life. My career has spanned nonprofits and corporate roles—including healthcare, ministry and community programming—but I always found myself curating spaces, selecting artwork and using visual storytelling to reflect organizational identity.

After a corporate restructuring, in 2012, I formalized this work and launched Q. Hendree Art Consulting LLC. I help corporate, commercial, institutional and governmental groups bring their values to life through meaningful, mission-aligned artwork and curated environments. It’s a practice that blends artistry, strategy and faith, and one I continue to grow with faith, gratitude and purpose.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has definitely not been a smooth road. I’ve had to pivot quickly at several points—sometimes by circumstance, sometimes by necessity. Early on, a serious injury forced me to adapt how I worked, and the pandemic created unforeseen challenges that reshaped client needs and business operations almost overnight. Navigating the realities of entrepreneurship—balancing multiple roles, managing cash flow and learning how to scale thoughtfully—has required resilience, creativity and perseverance.

Each struggle has been a lesson in agility. I’ve learned to embrace change, find new pathways and approach every challenge as an opportunity to strengthen both my business and my perspective as a creative professional. Through it all, my faith has been my foundation, guiding each pivot and decision with purpose and clarity. Staying grounded and intentional has turned obstacles into opportunities for growth, both personally and professionally.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As an Art Consultant and Theological Art Historian, I help organizations bring their values to life through curated environments and meaningful, mission-aligned artwork. My advisement spans commissioned pieces, collection curation, space planning and strategic artwork reimagining, but at its core, it’s about storytelling—creating spaces that communicate purpose and identity in a way people can experience authentically.

I’m most proud of the trust clients place in me to turn their vision into something tangible and transformational. What sets me apart is the unique combination of artistic expertise, strategic business thinking, operational precision and emotional connection. As an African American woman in a field where that perspective is rare, my extensive education in business, arts management and theology—combined with a circuitous professional journey—allows me to specialize in the meaning behind the aesthetic. Every project is guided with intention and care, ensuring spaces not only look beautiful but reflect mission and resonate deeply with those who experience them.

What makes you happy?
My faith brings me more than happiness—it fills me with joy. Knowing that I am walking in the purpose God laid out for me and serving others in ways that bring light and beauty to their environments gives my work and life deep meaning. I find fulfillment in creating spaces that inspire, uplift, and positively impact others, all while honoring the calling I believe I was given. In addition, I operate a ministry, Masterpiece Ministries [Ephesians 2:10], that supports others in their faith, providing encouragement, education, and inspiration through God’s Word. That is true, inexpressible joy for me.
