Check Out Reneka Moore’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reneka Moore.

Reneka Moore

Hi Reneka, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Since I was a young girl, I’ve always had a hustle mentality or the more proper term entrepreneurship spirit. If I wasn’t outside selling something, I was inside my family house sketching a new design or performing a song or act. Growing up, I’ve always been inspired and felt awakened by the entertainment industry: fashion, music, and film. Those three things drove me to create my lane and share it with others. Now, I am the Owner of Opulent Manner (a luxe clothing brand that offers statement pieces to bring out your highest self through wardrobe and styling services) and Co-Owner of The Allure For Moore (a talent directory and production company that provides a space for individuals to connect and create). Through my experience of living and working in Dallas and Louisiana, one thing that reigns true is that working and investing in yourself is THE top priority, and building a community is gold. Receiving rejection, hard lessons in business, failed launches/attempts, kept propelling me forward, because that 1 yes trumped all of the negates. It’s always a reminder to not give up, because your reward is right around the corner. Each year, I’m standing on a higher tier, because I’ve applied the pressure and never quit.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If it’s easy, is it even worth it? (I like easy, but we know that’s not reality). Entrepreneurship is not an easy career, but it’s a path I’ve chosen. I’ve had a good bit of hard lessons: 1. Don’t rush the process (though you may have a goal or date you want to meet, don’t force it just for the sake of meeting a goal *rushing the process caused me to lose money)
2. With partnerships, always have a clear identity of roles and expectations (I vote written agree moments over verbal. I’ve partnered with others before where they talked a good game and didn’t follow through on their end.)
3. Make manageable goals (this is for your mental health because my mental health is questionable when I have too much on my plate to give a 100% *no one is useful when they are 1/2 empty)
4. Make God your business partner (though I have a plan of my own, God’s plan is far better. Every time I moved on my own accord, something fell through, unwarranted stress, etc., things don’t go right.)
5. Trust the process (second-guessing will get you nowhere or bring in doubt. You must believe that every decision is right for you.)

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the Designer/Owner of Opulent Manner, a luxe clothing brand that offers statement pieces to bring out your highest self through wardrobe and styling services. I am also a co-owner of The Allure For Moore, a talent directory and production company providing individuals a space to connect and create. Located in Downtown Lafayette, The Allure For Moore (T.A.F.M.) provides a comprehensive suite of amenities, including a state-of-the-art podcast room, a professional photography studio, an intimate dance studio, event coordination and creative direction, and facilities for film projects. I call myself the Entertainment Connoisseur because you can come to me for any needs in fashion, events, music, and film.

I am blessed to be the curator of these two businesses because it allows me to help others find their voice, rebuild their confidence, and showcase their talents in multiple ways. I am in the service business and I want to impact others’ lives and see people win.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way is to pace myself. Don’t rush the process. This is a marathon, not a race. So, pacing myself and trusting the process has been and will keep my businesses afloat, help me be more present, and allow me to become more strategic with approaches.
