Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Mayweather.
Hi rose, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started practicing braiding on my own head because i couldn’t stand how my mom would do my hair so i would practice on me and my older sisters hair who was in high school and that transitioned to me doing friends and family hair and that lead to how I gained clientele
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it wasn’t always a smooth road but I’ve have always been some one to figure stuff out I’ve have many struggles and challenges like rude customers/ scammers no call no show stuff like that. When those problems happen they do make you feel like giving up but i couldn’t because it was a passion of mine.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So I am a hairstylist I started off doing braids and when I transitioned to a full time hairstylist I slowed down on braids and more into weave like sewin taping and quick weaves. What sets me apart from others is I really try to cater and make my salon a really good experience for my clients because of the horror stories I hear of.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I took a bold step in 2018 of becoming a full-time hairstylist. I took the time to perfect my craft , become knowledgeable about entrepreneurial culture , and studying the hair industry while being a mother. Taking this risk showed me that I’m capable , business-minded and a leader.
