Check Out Samuel Schneider’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Schneider.

Hi Samuel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Samuel Schneider. I’m an adopted 16-year-old elevator enthusiast who films elevators for my YouTube channel from in the St. Charles and St. Louis Missouri area. I love elevators. I know all about them, including how they work. I was born in Springfield, Missouri, and I was later adopted as a baby. I then moved to St. Charles, Missouri.

An elevator enthusiast is someone who is interested in elevators. I got into elevators a long time ago, when I was much younger. I don’t remember exactly how or when I got into elevators, but I remember watching videos from the YouTube user named “DieselDucy”. DieselDucy, also known as Andrew Reams, is the one who started it all. He filmed his very first elevator back in 1993, thus starting the elevator enthusiast community. He even has his own museum in Roanoke, Virginia, which is filled with tons of different elevator parts. He is actually the one who inspired me to create my YouTube channel on April 16th, 2017. I created my Google account in 2017 as well.

Once you create a YouTube channel, you obviously start off with 0 subscribers. I started sharing my channel with my friends, and started uploading videos. Eventually, more people came across my videos and my channel, and if they like my videos and what I do, they might subscribe. That’s how I got to over 500 subscribers. I don’t force people to subscribe, and I don’t really tell people to subscribe in my videos.

I started off making Roblox videos, which is an online game, until I got my first phone for Christmas one year. I then started using my phone to film my videos, and I would use the YouTube app on my phone to upload them to my channel. Eventually, I wanted to get a better camera, similar to the one that DieselDucy used, which is a Sony Handycam. I eventually got enough money to buy one, so now, I currently use a Sony Handycam CX405 to film my videos, and I now use YouTube Studio to upload my videos.

I don’t edit any of my videos unless I really have to. If one of my videos is edited, it will say so in the video’s description. I upload my videos the day I film them, unless otherwise noted in the video’s description.

Now that I have a driver’s license and a car, I can go and film elevators pretty much whenever I want to on my own. Before I had a license or a car, I relied on my parents to take me places.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’d say everything has been going very well for me. Sometimes, you can lose subscribers, and that’s ok. You just have to deal with it. Other times, you will get mean, rude, or inappropriate comments, and you just have to either ignore them, or delete them. You can also get more dislikes than likes on a video, and that’s ok too. Not everybody is going to like the video.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an elevator photographer. I film elevators for my YouTube channel from in the St. Charles and St. Louis Missouri area. I’m known for my interest in elevators. I’m proud of how many subscribers I have on my YouTube channel. I have over 500 subscribers, and I never thought I would have reached that many subscribers. What sets me apart from others is my interest in elevators. Some people think it’s really interesting that I’m interested in elevators and that I film them.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’m lucky that I have over 500 subscribers on my YouTube channel. I never thought that I would have reached that many subscribers.

Sometimes I can meet elevator mechanics, and I can get elevator parts from them.
