Community Highlights: Meet Angelia Bills of Eagle Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelia Bills.

Hi Angelia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a St. Louis native who went to Jennings High School and graduated from Howard University with a B.A. in Communications. I was a first-generation college graduate who wanted to make a difference in my community. Shortly thereafter, I began working at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport as a Senior Public Information Specialist. During my tenure, I worked on the Airport expansion and getting passengers out of the building safely during the 9-11 crisis. Following September 11, I transitioned to working at the Urban League as Vice President of Communications.

At the Urban League, I was responsible for marketing 30 – 50 programs at the largest affiliate of the National Urban League Movement, promoted two national conferences, worked on the grand opening of the Ferguson Community Empowerment Center, and helped create the Save Our Sons program with my colleagues. During my tenure at the Urban League, I also went back to school and earned an M.S.W. in Social and Economic Development from Washington University and a Leadership Certificate from Harris Stowe State University’s CLD program. After working 17 years for two Urban League CEOs and seeing the budget grow from $11 million to $23 million, I felt like it was time for me realize my dream of creating a public relations agency. In 2018, I founded Eagle Productions, LLC a full-service marketing firm that is dedicated to helping other businesses to grow. In January 2020, I launched out on faith and became a full-time entrepreneur. Since that time, I have worked with several companies including Midwest BankCentre, St. Louis Public Radio, At Home Care, the Missouri Minority Business Development Agency, Places for People, Annie Malone, the City of East St. Louis, AH TV Network, Nourish Community and many others. Each client I work with is a labor of love to me because I am truly interested in helping them to achieve their next level.

In January 2022, I launched a televised Podcast on AH! TV called Destined II Soar which highlights successful entrepreneurs and community leaders. We are currently filming show 7 and it has been a journey into greatness highlighting the activities of St. Louis’ business movers and shakers.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road is not always smooth, but it is worth it! Some of the struggles that I have endured include maintaining a steady pipeline of clients when old clients drop off and new ones come in. Eagle Productions uses an agency-retainer model so at times we are affected by cash flow issues when client payments are delayed. In addition, there is also the challenge of retaining dedicated, loyal and talented staff. Despite the challenges, we are continuing to Soar!

What do you think about happiness?
I am most happy when I am walking in my life’s purpose and calling. I truly enjoy helping others to succeed and in being successful in my own right. I am learning that true happiness comes from being true to one’s self and own well-being while also doing good and helping others. I also enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music, and watching superhero movies.
