How It All Began
Every success story starts with a vision and a dream—and for Ebony Bowden, also known as the STL Real Estate Guru, that dream began with a simple desire to create freedom through real estate.
Ebony’s journey into real estate began with curiosity and courage. Coming from a background outside the industry, she quickly noticed the lack of professional and investor-friendly agents in her community. Determined to bridge that gap, Ebony purchased her first investment property at just 25 years old—with no prior experience but a relentless drive to succeed. That decision became the foundation of her remarkable career.
Through discipline, education, and perseverance, Ebony turned her first real estate investment into her first major win—earning $50,000 and realizing the potential to build a legacy through property ownership. Inspired by her own success, she decided to take things further. She became a licensed Real Estate Agent, then a Broker, mastering every facet of the business along the way.
In 2020, Ebony founded Guru Realtors, her very own real estate brokerage and property management firm. What started as a one-woman operation evolved into a full-service company helping investors, homeowners, and new agents achieve success. She also launched Guru University, an educational platform designed to teach aspiring investors and agents how to build wealth through real estate.
Today, Guru Realtors stands as a pillar of excellence, offering brokerage, property management, and investment education all under one roof. Ebony’s vision is rooted in community development, urban sustainability, and generational wealth building—helping others achieve financial freedom while revitalizing neighborhoods across St. Louis.

Along the way, she’s dealt with shady contractors, people who didn’t believe in her vision, betrayal from those she trusted, and the loss of personal relationships that couldn’t withstand the demands of her ambition. There were long nights, setbacks, and countless moments of doubt—but through it all, she refused to quit.
Every obstacle became fuel for her growth. The journey was built on blood, sweat, and tears, but those same struggles shaped Ebony into the powerhouse she is today—a woman who leads with purpose, faith, and integrity.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending every holiday surrounded by my family when my grandmother was still living. She was truly the glue that held our family together — her love, wisdom, and presence made every moment feel special. Those gatherings were filled with laughter, good food, and a sense of belonging that I’ll never forget.
Since her passing, the holidays have felt different — quieter, and sometimes lonely. But the lessons she taught me about love, resilience, and community live on. I channel those same values into everything I do today — from helping families find their dream homes to building stronger, more connected communities through real estate.
Her legacy reminds me that home isn’t just a place — it’s the feeling of togetherness we create.
