Community Highlights: Meet Jenny Wu of Luvwoo Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Wu

Jenny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
From the age of three, my journey began in Kao-Hsiung, Taiwan, with professional training in piano and violin. By seven, I was competing in violin, and as a teenager, I toured Taiwan in rock and jazz concerts with acclaimed musicians. My passion led me to earn a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Colorado, Boulder, followed by a Master’s and Doctorate in Violin Performance from the University of Maryland. Throughout my career, I performed across the U.S., Canada, and Asia, winning national competitions and recording with Grammy-winning artists. I had the privilege of studying with legendary musicians, including Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman.

Beyond performing, I became a director and entertainment designer, working with Kushner Entertainment and Washington Talent Agency, curating unforgettable experiences. My love for creativity and bringing people together naturally extended into mixology, leading me to create Luvwoo Bar in St. Louis with my husband. Luvwoo is more than a bar—it’s a place where artistry meets community, where I can continue to create lasting memories for others, just as I have done with music throughout my life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been incredibly rewarding, but it hasn’t always been a smooth road. Moving from Taiwan to the U.S. as a child came with cultural and language barriers that required constant adaptation. Balancing a demanding music career with family life and finances was another challenge—pursuing higher education in violin performance meant years of rigorous training, competition, and financial investment. Marriage and relocating to different cities for education and work also came with sacrifices, as each move meant rebuilding connections and adjusting to new environments. Despite these challenges, my passion for music and creating meaningful experiences kept me going. Now, with Luvwoo Bar, I bring that same resilience and dedication to a new artistic endeavor, continuing to build a space where people can come together and celebrate life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Luvwoo Bar?
Luvwoo Bar is more than just a cocktail bar—it’s a community-driven space where artistry, creativity, and connection come together. Inspired by my background in music and entertainment, Luvwoo is a place where every detail, from our handcrafted cocktails to our carefully curated events, is designed to bring people together. We specialize in innovative, high-quality drinks that tell a story, using unique flavor pairings and expert techniques to create an experience that goes beyond the glass.

What truly sets Luvwoo apart is our deep commitment to the local community. Everything we do is centered around celebrating St. Louis—from featuring local artists on our walls to showcasing live music from area musicians, hosting events that highlight local talent, and curating experiences that foster real connections. We believe in creating a space where people feel welcomed, inspired, and part of something bigger.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the sense of community we’ve built. Luvwoo isn’t just a place to grab a drink; it’s a destination where friendships are formed, creativity thrives, and the city’s culture is celebrated. We want our readers to know that when they walk through our doors, they’re stepping into an experience designed to connect them with the people, stories, and artistry that make St. Louis special.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The COVID-19 crisis reinforced just how vital community, adaptability, and human connection are—especially in hospitality and the arts. It showed us that people don’t just seek great drinks or entertainment; they crave meaningful experiences and spaces where they can feel connected. At Luvwoo Bar, we learned the importance of flexibility, whether it was finding creative ways to bring our offerings to people safely or reimagining how we could support local artists, musicians, and small businesses during uncertain times.

More than anything, the pandemic underscored the power of resilience and the need to foster a strong sense of community. It reminded us why we do what we do—creating a space where people can come together, celebrate, and share in something special. That lesson continues to shape Luvwoo, as we focus on not just serving cocktails but cultivating a place that brings people closer, supports local talent, and makes every moment memorable.
