Hi Manivanh, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Manivanh Maniphonh. I am an entrepreneur, a career woman, a family oriented woman, and I believe there’s is no limit to what you can accomplish as long as you are motivated, have the right support system, and willing to put the work in yourself.
Currently, I am the founder and owner of 2 businesses; a tax preparation company I opened in 2007 called ManiTaxes and an online boutique I recently opened in 2020 called Royalti Luxe. I am currently looking into opening a travel agency; to be continued.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
When I finally opened the tax company I didn’t really struggle when it came to obtaining clients. My first clients were family members and coworkers. They assisted me by sending referrals and most of my new clients til this day are mostly referrals. ManiTaxes have been awarded the St. Louis Award for Finance and Financial Services in 2018 & 2019, and then was awarded the St. Louis Business Hall of Fame for Finance and Financial Services in 2020 & 2021.
However, when I first started Royalti Luxe, I struggled with getting wholesale suppliers. Most quality suppliers do not want to sell their items at a lower cost. However, the only way I can sell the items at a low cost is to purchase them at a low cost. Once I established the suppliers’ everything else became simple. Getting sales were not an issue because I utilized social media, and ad marketing companies.

Royalti Luxe is a boutique that offers luxury quality clothing, hair, nails, and accessories at a lower price. I named the boutique Royalti Luxe in remembrance of my daughter “Royalti Savanhdao Samuel”. I started the boutique because I have a niche for saving money but still getting quality items. I wanted to share my love of buying luxury items but at a lower cost. I started off by buying a few outfits and selling them to close friends and coworkers. Then the boutique started becoming more popular through social media, and I figured it would be best to have an online boutique due to my already busy schedule. Now I attend pop-up shops as a vendor to get more exposure. My boutique is different from others because at the moment everything is online-based, but I am working on upgrading to an actual location with a storefront. I am proud of everything with Royalti Luxe because it is dear to my heart. Royalti Luxe is not the only business I have.
I also have a tax business called ManiTaxes. I got into doing tax preparation when I started working at the local IRS lockbox back in 2005. I enjoyed reviewing the tax documents, and wanted to further understand how to prepare them. My interest was so high I started working part-time at a well-known tax company just to get the hands-on experience. I then knew that this could be a very successful business because the need for preparers or financial advisement would never go away.
Also, I still work a regular full-time career as well. I just feel there are so many opportunities out there, but you just have to have the “growth mindset”.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories would be helping out at my family’s business because it helped me have a business mindset. It gave me the opportunity to learn what to do to make sure your business is successful and also what not to do, every now and then I was able to go to the park to play with other kids, and my ultimate favorite was waking up on Saturday mornings to catch all the cartoons since I did not have to help at the businesses.
