Community Highlights: Meet Mary Hastings of Sacred Frequencies Wellness Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Hastings.

Mary Hastings

Hi Mary, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was introduced to Sound & Light Therapy in 2018. It personally helped me with the stress in my life. I purchased a Sound & Light Chamber in 2019 and opened a wellness center in 2020. I was introduced to the Himalayan Singing Bowls in 2023 and fell in love with them. I took coursework in the Bowls and did over 170 hours of practice sessions to become Certified in the Himalayan Singing Bowls. I love the healing that both modalities offer. I celebrated the 5th Anniversary in business this last summer.

I love the work I do!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth ride, but I would not change a thing. Struggles-I opened during COVID and that made it challenging to get started. Marketing has been challenging too. I’m more of an introvert, so Networking and Marketing are a bit hard for me. I would rather be working one to one helping clients. All in all it has been good.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a solopreneur who loves to work directly with my clients. I enjoy sitting down with them before their sessions to learn more about them and learn why they came to their appointment. I personally determine what songs/colors or protocol would be most beneficial to them. After the session, I love to hear what they felt or what knowledge they gained. People are never the same as when we started the session.

I don’t have a specialty, but I have seen many clients with anxiety, depression, stress, grief and pain.

I call my clients the day after their treatment and hear how the session has benefited them and I love to hear that they are feeling better and that their pain has lessened.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I would never have considered myself a risk-taker, but I did when opening the business. I was close to 60 years young when I opened it. I don’t think most people would do that so close to retirement. But my dream was always to do work I loved and this was it, so I went for it. Five years later I am glad I did!!
