Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Lundergan.
Hi Matt, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Don’t laugh, but my entrepreneurial journey began at the ripe old age of 16 when I proudly took on the very professional title of “The Screenager.” I spent a summer replacing torn window screens for neighbors and local businesses—just a kid with a hustle, some tools, and a desire to make a few bucks.
Fast forward to adulthood: after 13 years working in the software and tech world—mostly in sales and marketing for small businesses—I finally decided it was time to take the leap and build something of my own. I wanted to create a business that reflected my experience, allowed me to serve others, and gave me the flexibility to invest in what matters most: my faith, my family, and my financial future. And that’s how White Pine Digital Consulting was born.
The name White Pine isn’t just a brand name—it’s personal. It’s the name of the street I grew up on and a symbol of where I come from: a strong, rooted family that believed in hard work, growth, and doing things the right way. There’s still a tall white pine tree standing in my parents’ old yard today, and it serves as a reminder that anything worth building takes time, care, and deep roots to grow.
Now, I get to help businesses across the country do the same—grow from the ground up. Every website I launch, every logo I help bring to life, every lead generation campaign I run—it’s all about creating transformation and watching something flourish. Just like that old white pine tree.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a solopreneur is the dream, right? Well—yes… and also, kind of. One of the biggest challenges I face (for now) is wearing all the hats, all the time. I’m not just the owner—I’m the strategist, project manager, copywriter, problem-solver, client communicator, and, on occasion, the proverbial janitor sweeping up at the end of a long day.
My attention to detail is both one of my greatest strengths and my biggest hurdles. I love digging deep—figuring out what success really looks like for each client or campaign. But that level of involvement also means I have to be intentional about stepping back from the day-to-day to focus on growing my business. It’s easy to get so invested in client success (because I genuinely care about getting it right) that I don’t always carve out enough time to scale my own.
Thankfully, I’ve built a network of incredible partners—trusted pros I collaborate with regularly to bring projects to life. They allow me to stay centered on strategy, communication, and delivering top-notch work. On paper, I might look like a one-person operation—but behind the scenes, there’s a small but mighty team helping to deliver big results.
We’ve been impressed with White Pine Digital Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At White Pine Digital Consulting, my mission is to help local service businesses grow online with real, measurable results—no fluff, no corporate jargon, no one-size-fits-all strategies. Whether it’s building high-converting websites, generating leads, SEO (search engine optimization), managing Google Business Profiles, or creating killer brand visuals, I help businesses show up and stand out.
I work closely with business owners to understand their goals, uncover opportunities, and turn “meh” online presences into marketing machines. I love the creative process—whether it’s designing a responsive website from scratch, or figuring out why a client’s phone isn’t ringing and fixing it. I also manage ongoing marketing retainers, offering flexible support for clients who need a partner that’s in it for the long haul.
Alongside my partner team, I can scale my services to meet client needs while still keeping everything high-touch and personal. Clients get direct access to me, fast responses, thoughtful strategy, and execution they can trust.

LEAD GENERATION:
We came to work with a local services company through a referral. The owner was simply looking for more leads or “at bats” for his business. The basis for our lead generation solution: we acquire leads, my leads turn into sales calls… sales calls turn into quotes… quotes turn into customers… and customers turn into revenue! You get the idea. After capturing some analytics, we found that over a 2 month period, the value of opportunities (direct attribution) to WPDC’s efforts was just under $249,000. Indirectly, another $50,000+. Put it all together… in 60 days, White Pine delivered ~$300,000 in new opportunities for a single local client!
SEO:
One of our newer SEO clients has seen some amazing results recently. When analyzing a 3-month YoY comparison (per the seasonality of the business) we’ve seen the following results: Total Clicks increased by over 5X. Total Impressions increased by over 2.5X. Average Click Through Rate increased by over 2X. In other words, more traffic led to more opportunity!

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
This whole journey—leaving the comfort of another salaried job, launching my own business, navigating all the unknowns—has taught me that growth doesn’t happen inside your comfort zone. It happens when you’re just far enough outside it to be uncomfortable, but bold enough to keep going anyway.
I’ve learned that doing the work, even when it’s messy or unclear, is the only way to figure things out. Perfection is the enemy of progress. Sometimes you just need to hit publish, try the new offer, take the meeting, send the email. You’ll either get a win or a lesson—and both are valuable.
I’ve also learned that people want “real” more than they want “perfect”. So I try my best lead with honesty, humor, humility, and a whole lot of heart. I feel my clients appreciate a partner who shows up consistently, communicates clearly, and cares deeply about helping their businesses grow.
At the end of the day, I’m building something bigger than just a business. I’m building relationships, delivering transformation, and planting roots that—just like that old white pine—will keep growing year after year.
