Community Highlights: Meet Mike Redenbeaux of Hometown RES

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Redenbeaux.

Hi Mike, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At 17, I was living on my own out of my truck, working in the trades just to get by. That season built grit in me and gave me my first exposure to real estate from the ground up. After years in the trades, I moved into professional sales, where I sharpened my communication and negotiation skills. Along the way, I felt a deep calling into ministry, but when the church I was part of fell apart, I found myself asking God for direction specifically, for a way to fund what I was passionate about while serving people well.
That prayer led me back to real estate.
I started managing properties for a property management company, then went on to build systems and operational models for Keller Williams, where I gained significant experience in the industry. After getting licensed, I stepped fully into the investment world flipping properties, wholesaling, and solving complex real estate problems.
Eventually, I founded Hometown RES a one-stop real estate solutions company designed to serve people in our community. Whether someone needs to list traditionally, sell for cash, wholesale a deal, or navigate a difficult situation, we believe every problem has a solution. The company has grown to include partners, clients, and long-term relationships both inside and outside the community.
My business model reflects my values: we aim to serve people who need help. Real estate has become the vehicle that allows me to operate professionally at a high level while also continuing to serve in multiple roles within my church, which is still my greatest passion. Today, I get to do work I love, serve people well, and fund the calling that matters most to me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being bi-vocational has been one of the biggest struggles. When you care deeply about two callings, it’s hard to be fully present in one without thinking about the other. I’ve had to learn discipline, mentally and spiritually, to give my full attention to what’s in front of me.

Another challenge was figuring out my lane. Early on, I was trying to do everything. It took time to understand where I was actually gifted, where I added the most value, and what niche made sense long term. That clarity didn’t happen overnight.

Probably the biggest internal struggle was discerning what God was actually leading me to do. There were seasons of uncertainty wondering whether to lean harder into ministry or into business. Learning to trust His direction instead of forcing my own timeline was refining.

On a practical level, balance was hard at first. Making time for family and friends required intentional boundaries. Real estate can consume you if you let it.

But one thing I’ve learned is this: real estate is about identifying opportunity and turning it into value. The same mindset applies to life. Instead of being the person who says, “That can’t be done,” I’ve tried to become the person who asks, “How can this be done?” That shift changes everything.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Hometown RES?
Hometown RES is built around one core belief: every real estate problem has a solution and most people just haven’t been shown all their options.

We are a full-service real estate solutions company serving the Metro East and greater St. Louis area. That means we are not locked into one model. We list homes traditionally. We purchase homes for cash. We wholesale opportunities to investors. We renovate and resell. We help buyers find and create their dream homes. If someone is navigating inheritance, divorce, difficult tenants, being upside down on value, or simply unsure what to do next we walk them through every viable path.

What sets us apart is that we do not force one solution. Most companies have one lane and everything gets pushed into that lane. We lay out the full picture first. If listing makes sense, we list it. If a cash sale is the best move, we do that. If renovation creates more value, we show the numbers. And if we are not the right fit, we connect people with someone who is. That level of transparency builds trust.

We are known for clarity and execution. We are problem-solvers first and transaction managers second. We move quickly when needed, but we do not pressure. We are direct, strategic, and community-focused.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is that our business reflects our values. We are not out-of-town investors chasing deals. We are rooted here. We care about long-term relationships more than short-term wins. Our growth has come through referrals, repeat clients, and partnerships which tells me we are doing something right.

At the end of the day, we want people to know this: you do not have to guess your way through a real estate decision. Whether you need speed, strategy, or a long-term plan, we provide real solutions under one roof.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that might surprise people is that I was homeless as a teenager. At 17, I was living out of my truck. I didn’t have a safety net or a clear path just work ethic and faith. I think sometimes people assume that because a business is growing or because someone carries themselves confidently, they’ve always had stability. That hasn’t been my story. I’ve experienced what it feels like to have almost nothing. But I’ve learned that many successful people have a chapter like that. There’s usually a season where you’re down to your last $20 and you have to decide who you’re going to become. That season shaped me. It built resilience, resourcefulness, and a deep respect for opportunity. I don’t hide that part of my story. It’s actually one of the reasons I care so much about helping people create stability and build wealth through real estate. I know what it’s like to not have it.
