Community Highlights: Meet Nina Engelsmann of Tradd Street

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Engelsmann.

Hi Nina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved clothing and home decor. Over the years I’ve worked in many retail stores and have always wanted to have one of my own! Once my daughters started full time school, I decided it was a great time to open my own shop. It’s been so much fun.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh there are always plenty of unforeseen circumstances! I’ve learned so much since opening. Recently we had pretty significant construction in our parking lot which was a huge challenge, but you just kind of learn to roll with what happens. I always tell myself everything is “figureoutable.”

We’ve been impressed with Tradd Street, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Tradd Street, named for my favorite street in my favorite city, Charleston, South Carolina, is a little women’s boutique in the heart of Ladue. I specialize in really beautiful and unique clothing at an approachable price point. I like the idea that anyone can come in and get something they really like without feeling like they need to get a second mortgage to afford it!

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
This little store is a dream come true for me. I truly love being there every day and helping my customers find something that they love.
