Today we’d like to introduce you to SoJohna Bell

Hi SoJohna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
SoJohna Bell, born in St. Louis Mo, is the CEO and Founder of Ryze Manufacturing & Logistics, an e-commerce private-label Haircare and Skincare company specializing in natural products for Beauty Professionals and Entrepreneurs. SoJohna began her business education at Clark Atlanta University, continuing her Bachelor of Science at Colorado Tech University with a concentration in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and then completed her Masters of Business in Entrepreneurial studies.
SoJohna launched her career in Atlanta, where she advanced through a variety of management roles with two Fortune 500 companies. She was an integral member of regional development teams which spearheaded the opening of offices in Boca Raton, Fl and Baltimore, MD. After spending 10 years, she walked away from Corporate America, when faced with an attempted sexual assault by her manager. At that time, SoJohna decided she would be the only one who controlled her destiny. In 2002, She took everything learned from those company’s and used the knowledge to rebrand the family Salon along with her Dad, Mom and three sisters. They launched Ladyz of Elegance Salon & Store and the Lady Elegance product line, with locations in St. Louis, MO and Atlanta, Ga. The success from the Treebraid services and products, inspired SoJohna to help other shops, salons and barbers create additional revenue for their businesses through products enhanced with the therapeutic benefits of pure essential oils, and that was the birth of Ryze Manufacturing and Logistics.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The entrepreneurial road is not without several bumps in the road. Ryze has been challenged with identifying a cosmetic chemist who formulates natural and organic products for diverse consumers—making pivots with product offerings when supply chain issues prevented access to some raw ingredients.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Ryze Manufacturing’s goal is to help beauty professionals increase their income and enhance their businesses. Many of our shops, salons, and other beauty businesses do not offer retail products, missing out on revenue opportunities. However, many of the products available these days contain toxic ingredients. That’s why our technology-driven company is dedicated to empowering beauty professionals and making a positive impact in underrepresented communities through natural and organic private-label products. We offer a wide range of products, including skincare, haircare, cosmetics, and more, to ensure that our customers have a diverse selection to meet their specific brand needs. We work closely with our clients to create customized formulations, taking into account their desired ingredients, target market, and brand style. Our team of experts brings industry knowledge and extensive research capabilities to develop innovative, trend-setting products that resonate with their customers and set them apart from their competitors. In addition, our commitment to ongoing support sets us apart. Through our educational workshops and expert-led retail training, we provide our customers with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to succeed as entrepreneurs.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
St. Louis is a city with a small-town feel. It’s home, and there is nothing like home. However, St. Louis can be a challenging city to introduce new things to, which can be a significant disadvantage to the city’s growth and progress.
