Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Weber.
Hi Andrew, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Music had been pulling me in since I was a young kid. I was guided into my first public performance in my senior year of high school and found my love for songwriting in college. With the audience response I received, I decided to make a career out of music. I would not be where I’m at today if it weren’t for God’s guidance and the encouragement of my friends and family.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Looking back with a large scope, the road has been pretty smooth. My biggest hurdle has been confidence. It took me a long time to feel comfortable in my abilities, and I still struggle with those doubts today.. especially right before a performance.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer-songwriter known for my honest lyrics along with my storytelling ability. I am most proud of my work ethic. I have had limited musical training, yet I have been able to work hard enough at my craft to make a living from it. My public display of faith is what sets me apart from others. In a majority of my songs, I write about life with a Christian worldview. I am not a worship artist, just a country rock songwriter who is not afraid to point people to Jesus.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was an extremely shy and quiet kid. I kept to myself and liked to observe the world around me. Baseball was my first love and hogged most of my attention starting after I tossed my first ball at 2 years old. Instead of playing ball in college as I planned, I decided to focus on developing my musical skills. The reason for this is that I performed a medley in front of a large high school crowd and received a standing ovation. I also received a couple of signs during my final baseball tournament in my senior year that pushed me to make the call. Soon after I successfully performed in front of my first crowd, I found a heads up penny in Jackson, TN after a game of mine was cancelled due to weather. Eventually, the entire tournament was cancelled. I returned to our hotel in Jackson and found a guitar pick in the exact same spot that I found the penny. I told my family about these finds and they asked me what year the penny was. Turns out it was a penny from 1998, the year I was born. I decided that God was telling me to change course. I still have the penny and the pick framed, and the rest is history.
