Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Meuth.
Hi Angie , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in St. Charles, Mo and always knew I was going to do something in Art. My Mom was an artist and encouraged me greatly to go after my dreams. At 18, I got my first tattoo, and I knew I was hooked! I pursued an apprenticeship while going to Kansas City Art Institute for Illustration. My apprenticeship started in 2010 in Columbia Mo and tattooed there for about 3 years. I wanted to be closer to home, and looked for opportunities to be in St. Louis. Evermore in Edwardsville was my answer. I took walk ins and built my clientele there for about 7 years, taking anything that would walk in the door pretty much! At that point, I was super busy and made the move to be appointment only, and started at the now defunct Lucky Cat in 2019. That’s where I initially started playing with the mid century tattoo style, now people travel to come see me for that style! Lucky Cat closed during Covid, unfortunately but that didn’t deter me. That studio really showed me what kind of studio I wanted to be in. It was a softer approach, not as intimidating, full of color and inspiration. Another tattooer and I decided to open a studio in that style after that, but due to professional differences, that ended in 2024. I opened Dream House Tattoo in June 2025 by myself and feel like I’m finally accomplishing what I wanted to do in the community of tattooing. I plan on hosting events at the studio like draw nights and craft shows, as well as having a space in the studio to showcase local artist’s work. We have a lot of Guest Artists lined up for 2026 as well! I feel like Dream House is really my dream studio! I hope it can be for my fellow artists and clients!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a tough couple of years to get to this point. With the closing of my last studio, I was feeling very discouraged. Also with the economic climate during the beginning of the year, I was seeing lots of tattoo artists struggle. I was seeing lots of stories about tattoo artist’s I admire quit tattooing all together, or have to find a side hustle to make ends meet.
But I knew I had to push through, for myself, for my tattoo artist friends, and especially for my clients. I needed a space for them to feel safe and comfortable in. I wanted to build something fresh and new to St. Louis. I have definitely gotten some comments about the shop feeling like a daycare, or feeling childish, but I just want to feed my inner child! My space reflects all the things that inspired me growing up and I feel like my people really resonate with that.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The tattoos I make are really a wide array of different styles! The style I’m getting most known for is a kind of Mid Century Modern tattoo. It’s more of a simplified, bold style, with bright, flat colors and something I’ve been calling offset color, like a misaligned print. I think it’s something not a lot of people have seen in tattooing and that’s definitely the draw of it. I also enjoy doing Illustrative work, pin-ups (especially male pin-ups!) american traditional and others! I really love learning new techniques and trying new things. Tattooing is a really great in that it pushes me everyday to be a better artist!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Perseverance, trusting myself and going after my dreams. I know now that I am strong enough to get through the tough times and that I have such a good support system in my friends and clients.
