Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooklyn Saint.
Hi Brooklyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Brooklyn Saint’s inception came from the worlds shut down during Covid. Emanuel contacted me about getting on a song for his next album and I completed the record. I (Shareef) was apprehensive at first because it was so heavy of a topic. It was speaking to all the injustice we were seeing on a constant in the U.S. Emanuel luckily loved the song and we’ve been creating music since then. We now have an album that features Masego, Stout, Mickey Factz and Omari Hardwick (Ghost from power). We’ve performed for thousands in St. Louis and will be performing in NYC on March 19th. We’ve also finally released our first single “what you telling me” and it’s received a lot of great feedback, we’re releasing our next single in April.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road within the group has been really smooth. I think we both just want to perform and create. When the common dominator is that clear, I think it’s hard to fumble. I will say our hardest outward hurdle as a band is trying to book shows overseas. But we always remind ourselves how much there is still left to go and people haven’t even heard 3 songs from us yet, so with patience everything will come together seemlessly.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a band we have a fresh and intriguing sound that we think people can’t deny. We’ve let so many of our community hear our demos from the album and it’s always very clear we have something special! Some of our proudest moments are getting the names we have on the band, performing at a festival in 2024 without even dropping a single. And most importantly that we’re putting the creativity first, whatever we like we do! Emanuel is the lead music composer/ producer and drummer of the band. Shareef is the singer/ rapper/ writer and front man of the band. Our stage presence melts so perfectly together, y’all have to come to show and see it in person.
How do you think about happiness?
Making music and the world telling you how much they dig it. What’s there favorite parts, people putting your song on their playlist so their friends can hear it. Those things make us do what we do. We know we’re connected to music on a spiritual level and seeing folks gravitate toward that energy is POWERFUL! We don’t ever take it for granted.
