Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonyce Haynes.
Hi Jonyce, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well as a little girl I always played in my dolls hair. Grew up doing friends hair from home out the kitchen of course! Had jobs here and there until I went off to college for information technology but even that still wasnt enough. I wasn’t fulfilled till I went and enrolled in hair school. Completed that, and been doing what I love every since.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not really. Smooth but definitely some curves. Had my third child at the time, and didn’t have the support system. But I didn’t give up, went on to working at a Salon called Smart Style while also working for Salon in Edwardsville. After a few years I let Smart Style go and juggled the two and then we ran into covid. Oh gosh…then it got real! Covid made me realize that some things need to change, and during that time is when I became a Salon owner.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a multicultural salon owner who specializes in all hair types and ethnicities.
How do you think about happiness?
Making others happy is what makes me happy! Doing free haircuts for school age children in the community, helping local churhes, doing extreme makeovers or creating hair attachments for clients with hair loss, or medical issues, or just simply recreating their favorite style. Thats what brings me joy behind the chair. Anything I can do that keeps them smiling makes my day brighter!
