Hi Kristine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey as a visual artist and photographer spans two decades, with the last 16 years dedicated intensely to commercial photography, video production, and abstract painting. Over the years, I’ve evolved from a generalist into a specialized creator operating ArtChick® Studio in Philadelphia, where I focus on high-end fashion e-commerce, editorials, professional branding, and dynamic motion content.
Today, my work bridges the gap between traditional stills and modern, social-first video reels—bringing a holistic, 360-degree approach to talent portfolios and commercial campaigns. Whether I’m shooting high-concept campaigns or capturing motion components for developing talent, my goal is always to push creative boundaries and tell a compelling visual story.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has far from been a smooth road. Like many creative freelancers, the journey has involved navigating the tension between being a generalist and finding the discipline to specialize, weathering financial ups and downs, and constantly evolving to stay ahead of industry shifts—like pivoting from traditional stills to a hybrid motion-and-stills workflow. Balancing the overhead of running a studio while grinding to secure high-end fashion clients and agency partnerships requires relentless persistence. There have certainly been periods of rebuilding and tight margins, but those challenges have only sharpened my focus, creative direction, and resilience.

I specialize in high-end fashion catalog, e-commerce, editorials, and professional branding/portrait photography, seamlessly integrating short-form, social-first video reels and cinematic motion content alongside traditional stills. I am known for providing a holistic, dual-format approach that bridges the gap between motion and print, creating agency-ready talent portfolios and commercial campaigns out of ArtChick® Studio in Philadelphia.
What I am most proud of is the resilience and evolution of my 20-year freelance career—specifically dedicating the last 16 years to mastering commercial work, running my own studio, and successfully evolving from a generalist into a specialized hybrid creator.
What sets me apart is my ability to deliver a complete 360-degree visual package (capturing high-end stills, short-form motion, and digitals all in one synchronized workflow) paired with a deep understanding of what modern talent agencies and fashion brands need to stand out.
How do you think about luck?
While luck and timing always play some role in creative industries, I’ve found that the real defining factor hasn’t been random chance, but rather relentless persistence and adaptation. Over a 20-year freelance career—with the last 16 years intensely focused on commercial work—navigating tight margins, industry shifts, and the transition from a generalist to a specialized hybrid creator has required grit rather than relying on luck. Whenever things haven’t gone smoothly or the road has gotten rocky, it’s the active pivot, the refusal to quit, and the constant push to master new formats like motion and video that keep the studio moving forward.
