Daily Inspiration: Meet Kaitlyn Ivancic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Ivancic.

Hi Kaitlyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My career has really been a combination of marketing, creativity, and a desire to do work that has a meaningful impact. I’ve spent nearly 15 years building my career in marketing and strategic partnerships, working across different industries and learning how to tell stories, build brands, connect with audiences, and create partnerships that bring ideas to life.

Over the years, I’ve also found myself increasingly drawn to organizations and projects that have a purpose behind them. That led me to become more involved in nonprofit and community-focused work, including my role with the St. Louis Blues Warriors Hockey Organization, where I focus on strategic partnerships and fundraising.

That same desire to combine marketing with purpose is what ultimately brought me to Global Sprouts. What started as a marketing role has grown into something much more hands-on and creative. Global Sprouts is an opportunity to use storytelling and content to help children better understand the world around them and become curious about other cultures and experiences.

Today, I serve as Marketing Advisor for Global Sprouts, and in September I’ll be stepping into the role of Editor-in-Chief. It’s an exciting next chapter because it brings together so many parts of my career—marketing, storytelling, creativity, strategy, and mission-driven work. As a St. Louis mom to three young kids of my own, I’m especially excited about the opportunity to help shape the content and voice of Global Sprouts and grow its impact with families and children.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think some of the biggest challenges have ultimately shaped the way I approach my work today. My career has taken a few different turns, and I’ve had to learn to be comfortable with change, uncertainty, and figuring things out as I go.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to balance ambition and career growth with being a mom to three young children. There have been seasons where I’ve had to redefine what success looks like and recognize that my career doesn’t have to follow a perfectly linear path. In many ways, that has made me more intentional about the work I choose and the organizations I want to invest my time and energy into.

I’ve also experienced the challenges that come with working in mission-driven organizations and growing ideas from the ground up. There isn’t always a clear roadmap, and you often have to be willing to wear a lot of hats, be creative with limited resources, and believe in something before you can see the full result.

Those experiences have taught me to be adaptable, resilient, and comfortable taking risks. They’ve also helped me realize that the work I find most rewarding is work where I can use my experience and skills to help build something that has a purpose beyond simply being successful. That’s a big part of what makes my work with Global Sprouts so meaningful to me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At the heart of what I do, I’m a marketer and storyteller. I specialize in building brands, developing content, creating strategic partnerships, and finding creative ways to connect organizations with the people they’re trying to reach. I’ve spent nearly 15 years working across different areas of marketing, which has given me a broad skill set that spans strategy, branding, communications, partnerships, and content development.

Today, much of my focus is on Global Sprouts, where I serve as Marketing Advisor and will be stepping into the role of Editor-in-Chief in September. What I love about Global Sprouts is that it allows me to bring together so many of the things I’ve spent my career developing—marketing strategy, storytelling, creativity, and relationship-building—with a mission I genuinely believe in. We’re creating content that helps children become curious about the world, learn about different cultures, and develop a greater sense of connection beyond their own experiences. I’m incredibly proud of the opportunity to help shape that voice and grow the impact of the brand.

I think one of my strengths is being able to see the bigger picture while also being willing to roll up my sleeves and execute. I enjoy taking a big idea and figuring out how to turn it into something tangible, whether that’s a campaign, a partnership, a piece of content, or an entirely new opportunity. I also really enjoy connecting people and ideas and finding possibilities that might not be immediately obvious.

Outside of my primary marketing work, I’m proud to be involved in the St. Louis community in a few different ways. Through my role with the St. Louis Blues Warriors Hockey Organization, I’m able to use my professional experience to support a nonprofit and contribute to a mission that is meaningful to the community and to my own heart as the wife of a veteran. I’m also a yoga teacher, which started as a passion of mine and has become another way for me to connect with people and contribute to the community.

I think what sets me apart is that combination of strategy, creativity, relationship-building, and a genuine desire to do work that has a purpose. Whether I’m building a brand, developing content, supporting a nonprofit, teaching yoga, or raising my three kids, I’m most fulfilled when I’m creating connection, bringing people together, and leaving a positive impact.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t know that I would describe the biggest opportunities in my life as luck as much as I would describe them as timing, relationships, and being open to what comes next.

When I look back at my career, so many of the opportunities that have shaped my path have come through people I’ve met along the way. A former colleague becomes a future collaborator. A professional connection leads to a new opportunity. A conversation that seems small at the time ends up opening a door years later. I’ve learned that relationships are incredibly valuable, and I try to be intentional about maintaining them even when there isn’t an immediate reason or opportunity attached to them.

Timing has played a huge role, too. Sometimes the right opportunity comes along when you’re ready for it, and other times something doesn’t work out because the timing simply isn’t right. I’ve learned not to look at those moments as strictly good or bad, but as part of a larger path that often makes more sense in hindsight.

I also think there’s an element of creating your own luck. Being willing to say yes, take a chance, reach out to someone, or pursue an idea can put you in the position to take advantage of an opportunity when it comes along.

When I think about where I am today with Global Sprouts, my work in the community, and the different relationships I’ve built throughout my career, I can see how much of it has come back to people and connections. I feel very fortunate for the people who have crossed my path, but I also believe strongly in nurturing those relationships and being open to where they might lead.
