Daily Inspiration: Meet Liberty Koch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liberty Koch.

Hi Liberty, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve loved photography since I was very young and actually photographed my first wedding at only 12 years old! In lieu of payment, the bride gifted me my first real camera and I have fallen in love with the hobby ever since. During the fall of my junior year of high school, I started doing sessions for some of my friends and opened a photography Instagram account to post all of my pictures. I had lots of people interested so I posted some prices and have continued to grow a loyal clientele from that point on! I am now a senior in high school and have officially been running my business for over a year.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been so blessed to have lots of clients that are very supportive and encouraging of me which has made growing my business go so smooth. Although, something I have really struggled with is finding my style of editing. The way you edit your pictures can completely change the way an image feels and the clientele it attracts. I have worked so hard to educate myself on different editing techniques and styles in order to create a consistent style that is unique to my business and timeless for generations.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a lifestyle photographer that specializes in photographing seniors, couples, families, and weddings. I am known for capturing candid, authentic moments of whoever is in front of my lens and editing with a timeless, slightly cinematic approach. My biggest priority is to create an experience for my clients that leaves a lasting impact and allows them to have fun with their favorite people and express themselves in the truest form all at the same time!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
A major resource for me has been the Editing Castle – Photography Podcast by Britt & Alex Hall or Chasing Sunsets LLC. Their podcast and Instagram have both helped me so much in learning about running a photography business, editing, and so much more. I can’t recommend their resources enough!
