Today we’d like to introduce you to Manuel Montoya
Hi Manuel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always loved entertainment ever since I was just a little kid. Growing in a Mexican family , I had always dreamed on being part of a telenovela. Around my friends , I had always been the goofy one and they had always told me to open a YouTube channel but I never knew how to grow it. Back in 2020 during Covid times , I decided to open a TikTok account and make telenovela parody sketches. I started gaining following and met big content creators because they liked my content. It was until 2023 when I told myself I was going to not only focus on growing my TikTok but also other social media apps like facebook and instagram. I was able to go from 10k- 194k on instagram ,115k on Facebook and about 479k on TikTok. Back in January 2024 I was invited to live the experience of la casa de los famosos which is like the big brother concept but with influencers and celebrities. I had watch the previous seasons and had been a big fan of them , so when I was invited to live the experience for 1 day before the season started it was like a dream come true. As of right now , I still work a 40hr weekly job but also continue trying to grow my social medias.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Social media is definitely not a smooth road, you go through a lot of phases. I had never had anxiety until I started on social media but have been able to manage. I have learned to keep pushing myself and not give up when videos don’t do as good as a previous one. Before that was my biggest struggle getting depressed because a new video, I put a lot of work on didn’t do as good as a previous one. I learned that consistency is the key and not to give up.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work a warehouse job 40hrs a week. But when I get off everyday I try to continue to make content for my social media because , I would like in the future to have that as my only job. I had some doors open thanks to social media but definitely not had the opportunity to make a living of it. I’m continuing to push myself to meet that dream in the future.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I definitely get a lot of advices from other creator friends but most definitely for social media being yourself is the key.
