Daily Inspiration: Meet Min Choi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Min Choi.

Hi Min, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my career working in construction, but when I was five months pregnant, I made the decision to step away from that job to focus on becoming a stay-at-home mom. Being present for my child was always something I deeply valued, and I truly loved every moment of that chapter of my life.

When my son was around four months old, I realized I wanted to grow not only as a mother, but also as an individual and help provide for my family. That realization led me to begin my apprenticeship in permanent makeup and tattooing. Helping people has always been a passion of mine, and this path allowed me to combine creativity, connection, and purpose.

Today, my career gives me the opportunity to help women feel more confident and comfortable in their own skin through permanent makeup and meaningful body art. I am incredibly grateful to meet and work with so many amazing people, create beautiful, personalized art for them, and build genuine connections along the way. This journey has allowed me to contribute to my family while doing work that truly fulfills me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
During my apprenticeship, I faced significant challenges as I navigated multiple learning curves while caring for a newborn. Learning an entirely new skill set while balancing the physical and emotional demands of motherhood was not easy. There were moments of exhaustion and self-doubt, but I remained committed to my goals. These challenges strengthened my discipline, resilience, and time-management skills, and ultimately shaped me into a more focused and determined artist and professional.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a permanent makeup artist and tattoo artist specializing in fine line, black and grey, and realism tattoos, as well as a full range of permanent makeup services. My work includes powder brows, microblading, lip blushing, eyeliner and eyeliner enhancements, paramedical tattoos, and scalp micropigmentation.

What I am most proud of is my ability to combine artistry with purpose. Through both tattooing and permanent makeup, I help women feel confident, beautiful, and comfortable in their own skin while enhancing their natural features. Creating meaningful art and being part of someone’s confidence journey is incredibly fulfilling to me.

What sets me apart is my commitment to following my own path. I chose to pursue tattooing and permanent makeup despite outside voices telling me it wasn’t the right decision. I trusted myself, stayed focused, and believed in my vision. Today, I confidently and successfully practice both, bringing passion, precision, and genuine care into every piece of work I create.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was very active and outgoing. I loved sports, dancing, and spending time outdoors, and I was always drawn to movement and creativity. Personality-wise, I would describe myself as an introverted extrovert — I can be more reserved at first, but once I’m comfortable, I’m extremely friendly and genuinely enjoy connecting with people. That balance has stayed with me into adulthood and really influences how I work with clients today.
