Daily Inspiration: Meet Mitchell Bennett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mitchell Bennett.

Hi Mitchell, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It started with my love for photography and my wife Katie’s growing passion for entrepreneurship. At the time, I was working a full-time job while Katie was home with our newborn. She saw an opportunity for us to earn a little extra income using my photography skills, and that is how our business began.

For several years, it was a side business. During that season, we discovered two things: we genuinely loved working together, and we loved capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments for people. Katie also found a passion for photography and I began sinking my teeth into the business side of things.

In late 2016, we were able to go full time. That was the moment we decided to fully invest in the wedding side of our business and pursue growth with purpose. We have always loved weddings, marriage, and new beginnings, so we committed ourselves to education, mentorship, and building strong relationships in the industry.

We spent a great deal of time, energy, and resources learning how to do this well, and that investment has shaped who we are today.

We still work hard to keep improving, but we truly love the experience we provide for each of our clients, and we believe our work reflects that commitment.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, and honestly, we are grateful for that because the challenges shaped who we are.

Like many small businesses, one of the biggest struggles early on was learning how to run a business while still trying to master our craft. We were good but not great at photography, and pricing, marketing, systems, and growth were all things we had to learn through experience. Those growing pains are not only stressful, they have a profound effect on making a livable wage.

The wedding industry is also highly competitive, so building trust and standing out in the market took time, consistency, and patience. There were seasons where growth felt slow and moments where we questioned what the next step should be. Repeat clients aren’t really a thing in our industry, so there’s immense pressure to always be connecting with new couples.

Every challenge taught us something valuable. It refined our business and deepened our appreciation for every couple who chooses us. Looking back, the difficult seasons were often the ones that prepared us most for where we are today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are wedding photographers who specialize in capturing genuine moments with a timeless, refined style. Our heart is in documenting weddings, marriages, and the meaningful relationships that surround them.

Our imagery reflects the abundance of a wedding day: the joy of family and friends, laughter, thoughtful details, incredible food and drink, heartfelt emotion, and memories that will only grow more valuable with time.

We believe great photographs come from more than technical skill. They come from trust, connection, and taking the time to notice the subtle moments that help tell the full story of the day. Rather than capturing only isolated highlights, we create imagery that feels complete, cohesive, and deeply personal.

Over the years, we have become known not only for this kind of storytelling, but also for providing a calm, personal experience for our clients.

What sets us apart is the artistic story we create from each wedding. As a husband-and-wife team, we bring two perspectives, shared experience, and a deep understanding of the moments we are photographing. We care deeply about marriage, family, and serving people well, and that shapes everything we do.

Our goal is to deliver photographs that evoke a tangible experience while creating a process that feels thoughtful, joyful, and memorable from beginning to end.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I’ve always been easygoing and never felt the need to have things my way. At the same time, I have a very technical, analytical mind that enjoys solving complex problems, researching ideas, and thinking through the best path forward. Growing up, that often looked like building with Lego or K’nex, or simply listening to friends and helping them work through life’s challenges.

In school, teachers often recognized my ability to work well with anyone, even people whose personalities were more difficult or who felt isolated from others. Building connection, listening, and finding common ground has always come naturally to me.

That may make me sound more serious than I really am. Most of the time, I’m just waiting for the right moment to bring out my dry sense of humor. I’m known for quick wit and well-timed one-liners, though if you ask me for a prepared joke on the spot, I’ll have nothing.

I work in an industry that often leans into a softer, more romantic side, and I’ve always felt comfortable in that space. In high school and college, many of my closest friends were women because I’ve always valued and enjoyed that dynamic.
