Daily Inspiration: Meet Paige Hulsey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Hulsey.

Hi Paige, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was 15, I walked into a local radio station and asked for a job. I’ve been telling stories through media ever since. Today, I’m the traffic anchor at First Alert 4 in St. Louis and a host on the lifestyle show Great Day St. Louis. After becoming a mom, I started paying closer attention to the bedtime stories we read each night and finally decided to pursue the children’s book I’d envisioned for years. I founded Blooming Acres Publishing and have since released five picture books celebrating wholesome outdoor adventures. Grateful for the television platform I have, I also wanted to spotlight other children’s book authors and illustrators. That led me to produce and launch “Turn the Page with Paige,” a First Alert 4 series exploring the inspiration behind the books families share with their kids, while fostering a local community dedicated to childhood literacy.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Creating my first book was a postpartum project. I needed a creative outlet to redirect my mental energy away from the anxieties fueled by social media during 3 a.m. cluster feedings with a newborn. At the time, I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I had no clue about standard word counts, page lengths, dimensions, hiring an illustrator, sourcing high-quality printing, or building an e-commerce site. Looking back, it might have been a blessing that I was so naive. Had I realized the sheer amount of work, man hours, and expense involved, I might have been too intimidated to begin. Instead, I figured it out as I went. I hope it shows my kids that you can accomplish anything meaningful to you; you can’t do everything, and you can’t do it all at once, but you can do anything that’s important to you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I strive to be a dynamic storyteller who can skillfully navigate both high-stakes breaking news and light-hearted lifestyle segments.

With more than a decade delivering the news as an Emmy-nominated journalist, I’m thrilled to bring my passion for storytelling to the world of lifestyle television, where connection, inspiration, and joy take center stage. Whether I’m hosting on air, writing children’s books, or speaking to live audiences, my mission remains the same: to share stories that uplift, engage, and make a lasting impact.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Print-on-demand and AI have made self-publishing easier than ever. While storytelling and art should be accessible to everyone, that low barrier to entry has flooded the marketplace with low-quality content. It can be overwhelming for consumers to navigate and difficult for dedicated creators to rise above the noise. Looking ahead, I hope buyers continue to demand excellence in what they choose for their children, and that technology empowers more creators to produce thoughtful, high-quality work.
