Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Glaser.
Hi Ray, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
What began as photographing my own kids when they were younger quickly expanded into doing photos of friends and their families. This kick-started our business over 15 years ago and today we photograph headshots, high school seniors, families and real estate.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Trying to balance a growing business while still ensuring we provided the experience to each client that we had become known for was a balancing act. Building a strong reputation took years and consistency – particularly given how many photographers are in the area. Overall its been fairly smooth but as with any business, you learn to navigate the challenges and grow from them.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We love creating images that are different than anyone else in the local market. We have learned that the best way to grow is to stand on your own and not get too concerned about what others are doing. We specialize in a few core areas of photography – High School Seniors, Families, and headshots for individuals (including business headshots as well as portfolio photos for actors/models). We also do extensive real estate photography for both residential and commercial
What sets us apart is the experience we create for our clients to make them relax in front of the camera. One of the most rewarding parts of our job is to photograph a high school senior, who may not see themselves the way others see them, and show them the photo after you take it and have them light up and say “wow…I look amazing”. This happens often with our headshots and other photography as well, but the seniors are the ones that make me smile the most because I know its such a hard age.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success in our business is driven by the experience we create for our clients. When we have clients return every year to capture their family photos or we have an opportunity to create high school senior images for clients that return for multiple kids over the years, we know that they appreciate the work we did in the past, This defines success for us year after year. When we stop seeing repeat clients, we know we need to make some changes. So far, our repeat clients continue to grow year after year.
Pricing:
- Our session fee for high school seniors and family sessions start at $250, and then clients are able to purchase whatever they want after they see their final edited images.
- Our basic headshot session starts at $225, and our classic headshot session is $250, and this is a flat rate that includes all the best hi-res digital files and can be done in our Kirkwood, MO studio or outdoors on location.
- Our real-estate photography is based on the size of the home but starts at $250.
- We have a full portable studio and offer signficant discounts for on-site headshots for teams or groups of people at their office or meeting location.
