Hi Aaron, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As the co-founders of Sparket, Evan and I have known each other for 20 years. We met at Calabasas high school, where we were President and Vice President of the math club. We shared a passion for sports, and as we got older often drove across from LA to Vegas to watch and bet on sports. We knew there was an opportunity to disrupt the industry, and when PAPSA (federal ban on sports gambling) was repealed in 2018, we began ideating on what eventually turned into Sparket. After signing our initial client, US Bookmaking, in 2020, we began creating our current product. We started the Social Betwork™ platform, a bet-on-anything solution designed for the modern user. We recently partnered with Red Rock Resorts and multiple additional casinos, sportsbooks, and even private clubs for golf, tennis, and esports tournaments. We aim to help our partners differentiate their offerings and bring in new customers by providing unique content with no risk.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running a startup is rarely an easy experience, but it has been gratifying. Everything has been an exciting learning opportunity, from filing our initial patent and onboarding new clients and their customers to managing fundraising in a down economy, building a new software platform, running accounting, HR, and everything else involved with a new company. We have faced all sorts of challenges along the way. Ultimately, continuing to succeed through these challenges has strengthened our team and given us the experience to tackle any new roadblocks.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Sparket has created The Social Betwork™, a live event wagering platform built for the modern user. We aim to help businesses differentiate their sports betting product offering to attract a broader demographic and reduce user acquisition costs. We do this through our customizable platform, which focuses on wagering with your community rather than against the house and offering new bet and event types to underserved niches. We are poised to add a new layer to existing sportsbooks and help grow revenue for the sports betting industry in the US, which has exploded from 1 state to 36 states legal in the past 4 years. We’ve already had initial proof of concepts with thousands of users via free-to-play contests in partnerships with casinos, golf clubs, and esports tournaments. Our company earned its certification from Gaming Labs International (GLI-33), which enables us to offer our platform for use in real money wagering by licensed operators and will unlock significant revenue potential in a rapidly growing sports betting market. Our technology is patent pending with the USPTO. It is built with an eye on gamification and democratizing the wagering process by allowing trusted users to provide event metadata and the crowd to confirm outcomes.
What makes you happy?
Ultimately, we built this product to help our clients and their users have more fun. Most people play sports and games mainly to have fun with their friends. Being able to unlock infinite amounts of new content for our industry and enable friends and communities to play with each other in gamified ways adds more fun and excitement to the activities they already love. Helping people connect and further engage with events they already enjoy is what makes me happy!
