Exploring Life & Business with Corey Mayo of Mayo & Son’s Construction LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Mayo.

Corey Mayo

Corey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
“I started with exactly $500, a basic set of tools, and a belief that if you have a vision and the discipline to follow it, anything is possible. My journey has been defined by the transition from that initial investment to a position of total professional and spiritual mastery. I’ve spent my career in the ‘Refiner’s Fire’ of the industry, proving that you don’t just build structures—you build a name that carries weight. I founded Mayo & Son’s Construction LLC as the living proof of that dream. It’s a testament to the fact that where you start—even with just $500—doesn’t dictate where you finish. It’s about the standard you set and the legacy you are willing to build with your own two hands. I’ve arrived at this point by realizing that ‘good enough’ is the enemy of a true mission. Today, my focus is on Sovereignty. I am building for a hundred-year horizon, anchored by my roots and the one who drives everything I do—my son, Kasen Mayo. I no longer seek direction; I provide it. I am the architect of a dynasty. I don’t just build; I lead.”it

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“It has been anything but a smooth road. I spent eight years as a laborer for Local 42, putting in the sweat and the hours that most people aren’t willing to give. That was my ‘Refiner’s Fire’—navigating an industry that can be unforgiving if you don’t have a solid core. I am OSHA Certified, meaning I’ve mastered the discipline and safety standards required for the highest levels of construction. I’ve faced the grit of the streets, the complexity of high-stakes business, and the personal weight of building something from the ground up without a safety net. The greatest challenge was maintaining a high-level vision while dealing with ‘low-frequency’ situations. I had to outgrow old versions of myself, shed distractions, and face the ‘shitty’ realities of the trade head-on. Every obstacle was a test. I fought those battles so that the legacy I’m building for my son, Kasen, would be on solid ground. A smooth road would never have produced the absolute certainty I lead with today.”

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mayo & Son’s Construction LLC?
Mayo & Son’s Construction LLC is a powerhouse of structural integrity. While we provide Certainty, we deliver it through our primary mastery: Professional Concrete Construction and Specialized Landscaping. We are known for our precision in structural concrete, flatwork, and decorative concrete landscaping that transforms a property’s footprint. As a certified MBE (Minority Business Enterprise), we are currently positioned for major public sector and airport infrastructure development (DBE/ACDBE). We handle the ‘heavy lifting’ that defines a city’s longevity, from residential foundations to large-scale commercial and municipal projects. We specialize in the ‘Guts’ of the build—advanced framing, precision foundation work, and reinforced concrete structures. What sets us apart is our Philosophy of Permanence. Most companies are focused on the next paycheck; we are focused on the next Century. We utilize premium-grade materials and rigorous site-management protocols because you can’t build a legacy on a ‘shitty’ foundation. Mayo & Son’s represents a promise kept between generations. We aren’t just pouring concrete; we are casting the future in stone, anchored by the drive I pour into the future of my son, Kasen Mayo. At Mayo & Son’s, the impossible is simply our starting point. Building a Better America, One Build at a Time.”

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
“My advice is simple: Protect your vision at all costs. People won’t see the empire you’re building; they only see the struggle you’re in. The struggle is the Refiner’s Fire—it’s there to see if you’re strong enough to hold the weight of the success you’re asking for. The one thing I wish I knew when I started is that discipline is the highest form of self-love. You have to be willing to do the work when no one is watching and hold yourself to a standard that others think is ‘too much.’ At Mayo & Son’s, we don’t cut corners because you can’t build a legacy on a lie. Find your ‘Why’ and make it unshakable. For me, that ‘Why’ is my son, Kasen. When your mission is bigger than a paycheck, you become invincible. The road will be rough, but the view from the throne is worth every mile.”
