Exploring Life & Business with Elle Gordon of The Ellenor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elle Gordon.

Hi Elle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstories.
I moved to St. Louis a year ago to be with my boyfriend. I planned on attending PA school in Nashville but decided I loved people, not medicine. I knew I wanted to open a business, and my boyfriend’s sisters-in-law had new babies. I was so excited to shop like crazy and asked where they were registered. One was registered online, and the other wasn’t registered at all. I thought this was crazy and decided I wanted to fill the void in the baby industry in St. Louis. I started brand research, went to market, and found a space. It took about a year to get started, but it’s the most significant decision I’ve ever made, changing my career path and going with my gut!

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve been lucky; it has been a smooth road so far. However, there was a big learning curve in technology for me. Luckily my boyfriend has been a huge help!

We’ve been impressed with The Ellenor, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart?
The Ellenor is a timeless baby boutique carrying everything from classic pink and blue to more modern neutrals. We carry apparel, toys, books, and nursery items. Our brands include Lila and Hayes, Rylee and Cru, Paty, Classic Prep, Petite Bebe, Little Giraffe, Pehr, and dozens more. Within a couple of weeks, we will launch our registry program and create custom registries for expecting mothers. We also have really fun plans for several events soon!

Any big plans?
I have a million things planned and am looking forward to it. I studied nutrition at the University of Arizona and want to incorporate wellness into the store. St. Louis has incredible wellness specialists, but when you’re pregnant or have a new baby, the last thing you think to do is find them. I aim to build a community of specialists to teach classes at my store. I also have a fantastic photographer that I plan to do mini sessions at the store with and some incredible event planners. I look forward to planning fun things with. I could go on for hours about my plans for the future, so stay tuned!
