Exploring Life & Business with Jen Cowan of And Hattie Makes Three

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Cowan.

Hi Jen, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started And Hattie Makes Three shortly after the birth of my daughter and transitioning to being a stay-at-home mom. I struggled to connect with other moms and decided to start blogging to connect with others who were in a similar season of life. I soon found that there were many like me and we started a community of moms to support each other. Blogs connected us way before Instagram was ever in existence.

Over the years, our audience size grew to where it is today. Now almost 8 years later, this little space has been a wonderful way to share our love for St. Louis, recipes, body-positive fashion, and sharing our story.

My biggest goal for everything that we do is to help families create memories. If I can help in that by offering a tip, trick, or activity for memory-making – that’s what I’m here to do.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a business on the internet is full of highs and lows. There are most certainly days where I’ve wanted to quit, but I’m always nudged back to share our story. When you share your ups and down with the world, and share your authentic self, people notice and open up to share their stories too. From struggles with finding great jeans to even big problems like infertility or PCOS and just the struggles of parenting, people are watching and are feeling seen.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
And Hattie Makes Three started in 2014 with the hopes to connect with other Moms and share our story. Since then we have been able to share the things we love, connect with amazing brands, share new brands to our audiences and just create an authentic safe space.

Because of this space, we’ve been able to work with big brand partnerships like Target, StitchFix and Southwest Airlines, ALDI to name a few. From this space, I’ve also been invited to be the On-Air Stylist for the St. Louis Galleria sharing the latest fashions and trends.

This space has been such a wonderful blessing and creative outlet, and I’m so grateful to those who follow our journey.

What’s next?
And Hattie Makes Three is going to continue to share the things that we love and the brands that we are raving fans for. We’ll continue to spread kindness, promote body positivity, and great opportunities for you to make memories with your family.
