Exploring Life & Business with Kat Ketter Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Ketter.

Kat Ketter

Hi Kat, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Curiosity, for me, has been the spark that has ignited my creativity. It’s a fundamental human trait that has driven me to explore, learn, and innovate. From childhood, I knew that I wanted a healthcare career. It was embracing curiosity and learning how to ask questions that catalyzed my personal and professional growth. Throughout my more than 20-year career, it has ignited my passion for knowledge and opened doors to new opportunities and endless possibilities. In my coaching practice, I establish trust and build rapport by genuinely trying to understand my client’s perspectives and experiences. Asking questions has become a way to empower others, making them feel heard and appreciated. This approach allowed me to create meaningful relationships within and outside my organization. At each job I’ve held throughout my career, I would pick one woman who inspired me at work and ask her to mentor me. I began to take roles with increasing responsibility and have been blessed to have the kind of mentors, now CEOs, who would take me quietly aside and fix my crown so that new opportunities could come to me. I work to do this for people on my teams today and with those I coach. It has allowed me to create a more inclusive, open, and positive place for everyone.

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced?
I was 36 when I had a wake-up call in the form of a heart attack. It was only then that I found out that women under the age of 40 represent one of the largest growing groups faced with cardiovascular disease. I hadn’t been making time for my health and had a high-stress job in healthcare operations. Over the next two years, I will work to lose 100 pounds and keep it off. I found a love for physical fitness that still exists, even 7 years later. I firmly believe that wellness at home carries over to wellness at work, and you can’t have one without the other. I encourage my team to take time for their health. I advocate for people to craft the best habits for them, whether yoga, walking, or hiking with their dog. Today, I advocate for taking small steps to improve your health. See your primary care specialist for an annual check-up, find a way to make exercise a part of your to-do list like you do all of the things on your calendar, and reach out should you ever want help getting started on your journey.
