Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Creek.
Hi Kayla, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Kayla Creek is born and raised in St. Louis, MO and is currently the Talent Acquisition, Manager at Elevate, a nonprofit organization that designs and implements programs that bring clean and affordable heat, power, and water to homes and communities. Kayla is the strategic recruiting business partner, managing the end-to-end recruitment strategy, integrating a focus on diversity sourcing and recruitment, including sourcing candidates through a variety of channels, planning interview and selection procedures, and hosting or participating in career events.
Prior to joining Elevate, Kayla spent 8 years recruiting for State Farm, a Fortune 50 Company and the largest property and casualty Insurer in the nation. This lead her to starting her own company called The Selection Process, where she helps companies transition out their workforce after layoffs and reduction of workforce. Her company specializes in resume writing, interview prep, salary negotiation and business plan writing. A portion of The Selection Process focuses on the youth working with organizations like the Backpack to Briefcase Program where she helps College students in the St. Louis Metro area with resume writing seminars, Interview Prep presentations, LinkedIn workshops and preparing them to enter the workforce.
Growing up with a family of serial entrepreneurs, in addition to Elevate and The Selection Process Kayla and her Husband are the owner and operator of a vendor business called Creek Bro’s Lemonade. This is a mobile beverage business that specializes in fresh, handcrafted lemonade shake-ups made with real lemons, cane sugar, and natural flavored infusions. Their mission is to deliver refreshing, nostalgic drinks with a modern twist at local festivals, markets, and high-foot-traffic areas based in the Metro East.
Kayla has been featured in Delux Magazines “Emerging 30 Under 30” for her involvement in the community and the success in her career at a young age and Belleville News Democrat “People to Watch”. She has a passion for connecting people with their dream careers and gives back to her community. In her free time, Kayla coaches the local high school girl’s Track and Field team and plays competitive USTA and ITT tennis.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge is finding time to continue to support our underserved communities as we reach back and pull up our youth.
We’ve been impressed with The Selection Process and Creek Bro’s Lemonade, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own and operate two small businesses on top of my day to day career. The Selection Process is explained in my Bio and Creek Bro’s Lemonade is as well.
