Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Driscoll
Hi Keith , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I start my story by letting everyone know the sacrifices with the giving up my house and using my last money to start a gym that would take people off the streets. I started the first gym because there was no sports offered outside of what the small schools have and this was an inexpensive and non political way to get children involved. I have been around boxing all my life and never had the opportunity to box amateur or to turn pro because of family issues. I did get a chance to be a sparring partner with some great champions and I know they had great knowledge in the sport of boxing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been very tough at times because of nay sayers, my daughter dying in 2023 and no community support in Centralia, but Swansea has been a lot better location and they believe in what we are doing. Centralia is doing fine now, but I still face a lot of adversaries because I’m a black man trying to run a business and you can see it sometime in Centralia but it has made me stronger
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Driscoll’s Believers Boxing Academy ?
We have two boxing gyms for ages six and up and we are USA Boxing registered and certified. I am a Masters Boxer and Trainer along with my wife Jennifer. We are highly driven and including myself we have three ranked boxers in the nation. We started from scratch and we keep raising the bar for our programs. We are always looking for sponsorship and support. We offer programs for discipline and autism, but we work on self-confidence, self-esteem, self assurance and discipline for all our boxers and participants.
