Hi Kudra Nizar; thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From a young age, I have been driven by a passion for business and finding solutions, particularly within my community. At just 18 years old, right after high school, I started my first business in the food industry while waiting for my official ID in Kenya. However, my love for fashion and accessorizing fabrics began to grow stronger as I entered the working world that same year. I noticed a gap in the market for high-quality scarves in various fabrics and colors, which led me to establish Kenya’s first branded scarf company.

The early stages were filled with trials and errors. I sourced fabrics from different regions and collaborated with talented tailors to create unique designs, turbans, scarves, and more.At age 13

 earlier in high school, I was always playing with our household machine, I remember always making clothing designs, drawing designs, and bringing them to life, even for my dolls. I didn’t know that that was preparing me to be the future designer and entrepreneur I am today.I believe in embracing failures as lessons and developing resilience to thrive in any business environment.

It has been a journey filled with ups and downs, but I have cherished every moment because challenges shape us and drive improvement. Initially, I faced the challenge of starting a business with limited capital, making it difficult to produce and promote my scarves. Additionally, not everyone believed in my vision for the first branded scarf company in the country.   which made it challenging to gain trust and sell my products. To overcome these obstacles, I offered free products to showcase their quality and size, gradually changing perceptions as the brand gained recognition.

What motivates me the most is empowering others and making a positive impact on their lives. What encourages me the most anytime I felt overwhelmed was the impact I had on my riders, tailors, and assistant, I slowly realized I was empowering others in my society and improving their lives. With the little I was doing. As a person who has always felt the need to impact others’ lives, fight for the general wellness of the world and make the world a better place one step at a time, this filled my soul and motivates me to overlook any challenges that come my way.

Managing inventory, creating effective marketing campaigns, and navigating local and international shipping were additional hurdles I had to overcome. However, my determination and unwavering commitment to success allowed me to persevere. Today, my scarf business is thriving, and I am proud of everything I have achieved. I fully launched my clothing line officially last year, showcasing different designs that are gaining a lot of attraction.

“I officially fully started my clothing line last year, designing a variety of unique designs that are gradually gaining momentum. Additionally, I had the incredible opportunity to organize my first fashion runway event in Saint Louis. This event provided me with a fresh perspective on the city, revealing its abundance of talent, hope, love, and so much more. I am committed to offering solutions through my products and services, and by bringing my community to St. Louis, I envision a brighter future. The experience I have gained along this journey has enabled me to make better business decisions and wiser investments, further fueling my optimism for the future.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My biggest challenge was starting a business without sufficient capital to invest in materials, production, and marketing. Moreover, few people initially believed in my vision, failing to recognize the importance of branding and investing in high-quality products. However, as the brand gained recognition and a loyal following, perceptions shifted, and support started pouring in.

As a global influencer based in St. Louis, I am passionate about supporting small businesses with limited marketing budgets. Having experienced the struggle of promoting my products, I understand their challenges. I actively seek opportunities to collaborate with local businesses and individuals, helping them market their products, foster growth, and amplify their voices.

In the face of these struggles, my journey has become a testament to resilience, determination, and selflessness. It is not solely about personal triumphs but also about giving back and uplifting others. Each obstacle surmounted becomes an opportunity to inspire and support fellow entrepreneurs, enabling them to flourish despite limited resources. My challenges have shaped me into an empathetic and compassionate advocate for the dreams and aspirations of those around my community.  I am always open to helping new entrepreneurs, students, and anyone else who needs my expertise.

We are dedicated to providing our valued customers with high-quality and stylish modest fashion. Since our establishment, Nizar’s Line has been leading the way as East, South, and Central Africa’s first branded hijab provider, embodying a deep passion for exceptional quality, vibrant colors, and well-branded products. As a designer, my relentless pursuit of innovation drives me to continually evolve and create distinct designs that captivate our diverse clientele. We specialize in blending modest wear with high fashion, offering sizes ranging from SX -5XL options for both casual and formal occasions, weddings, ball gowns, abayas, and much more. Our remarkable collection of unique turbans, including baby turbans and varieties made from silk, ribbed, jersey, suede, and cotton, is a standout offering.

Our ultimate goal is to become the premier choice for modest wear worldwide, delivering unparalleled customer service, honesty, superior product quality, and unwavering reliability. Empowering women to feel and look stunning is at the core of our mission. We aim to revitalize wardrobes, one garment at a time, while actively engaging in community outreach.

Every year, we engage in charitable endeavors, providing clothing to children’s homes and allocating a portion of our sales to make a positive impact. On our upcoming anniversary, we will proudly inaugurate the Nizar’s Line Foundation, inviting like-minded individuals who share our vision and passion to join us in creating an even greater impact. We are also exploring partnerships with organizations supporting women in St. Louis battling or recovering from cancer. Additionally, we prioritize mental health and wellness, actively promoting mental well-being in our community.

As a young black Muslim woman, I am immensely proud and grateful to be an inspiration to others. I am living proof that greatness knows no boundaries, defying odds and revolutionizing the industry one dress and one scarf at a time.

Our work is driven by emotions, logic, selflessness, and a deep sense of purpose. We strive to make a lasting impact, inspire others, and create a world where excellence and compassion prevail. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to delivering remarkable fashion and uplifting individuals and communities worldwide.

Embrace technology and stay updated on the latest tools and trends that can benefit your business. Exceptional customer service is crucial; prioritize your customers and provide them with the best service possible. Invest in digital platforms for marketing, online sales, and customer engagement. Consistency is key in this fast-paced era. Let purpose guide your business, as it will keep you strong during entrepreneurial challenges.

Consider integrating sustainable practices into your business, such as using eco-friendly materials, minimizing waste, or supporting social causes. Being environmentally and socially responsible can not only attract customers but also contribute to the long-term success of your business, the reputation of your business, and your community at large; remember, the goal is always uplifting everyone around you.

Builds a strong online presence everywhere, be it Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram; establishing a robust online presence is essential for reaching and engaging customers. Maintain active social media profiles, and utilize digital marketing, such as social media advertising using influencers and creation; consider investing in content marketing and great visuals to establish your expertise and build trust with your audience. Remember, marketing is everything.

Foster customer relationships: Customer loyalty is vital for the long-term success of your business. Prioritize exceptional customer service; one thing about  Nizarsline is, we are known for is its top-notch customer service; I took my time training my staff on how they shall talk to customers, how they handle orders, how they handle problems you can’t know who you’re speaking to as we all have the same language in use. Chats and feedback are what I’ve been using to uplift my business training, and how the team engages with the customers through social media, email marketing, and personalized interactions. Text messages can be read and understood differently, Try as hard to maintain a language that is meaningful to our customers.

Another thing I would tell anyone starting a business is Continuously learn and adapt: The business landscape is dynamic, so be prepared to learn, adapt, and iterate. With social media and technology, things change quickly, and be ready to do everything. For example, now we are on TikTok, and soon who knows what other upcome app will be there? We must embrace change as that’s the only way to keep up with all our clients. As a business owner, stay curious, keep learning about your industry, and be open to new ideas. Monitor the market and market trends, and be willing to adjust your strategies as needed to stay relevant and competitive. For example, our company marketing models are about to be more diverse to include more plus size and mid-age women as we understand they make up a huge part of company customers, so they should be presented. Starting a business requires dedication, hard work, and a willingness to overcome challenges. Remember consistency is everything, and nothing is built in a day; take your time and always trust the process.
