Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Tyler.
Hi Lindsey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve had a camera in my hand since I was about four years old, constantly documenting the people, places, and moments around me.
My journey into professional photography really began after I transitioned out of active duty military service and became a mother. Having my children completely reshaped my perspective on time, memory, and connection. I found myself wanting to hold onto every little phase, expression, and fleeting moment, and that became the foundation of my “why.”
What started as a passion naturally evolved into a business, and over the last 12 years I’ve built a photography and hybrid photo/video brand centered around intentional storytelling and authentic connection. I primarily work with weddings, couples, and brands throughout St. Louis, the Midwest, and destinations worldwide, creating imagery that feels both timeless and emotionally honest.
A lot of my approach is rooted in the experiences that shaped me — motherhood, military life, resilience, and a deep appreciation for human connection. Those chapters taught me how important it is to truly see people, make them feel comfortable, and create an experience that feels genuine from start to finish. When I started my business, I wanted to fill a need in the market for someone who was not only creative and professional, but also relatable, personable, and genuinely kind to work with. Today, I feel incredibly grateful that I get to combine lifelong passion with meaningful connection while documenting some of the most important moments in people’s lives in a way that feels authentic, emotional, and lasting.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I think every challenge pushed me into the next chapter of my business in a really meaningful way. Early on, I built a very successful studio-focused business centered around newborns and families, and I was truly at the peak of that season when COVID hit. Like so many creatives and entrepreneurs, I was forced to reevaluate everything — not only how I operated my business, but also what truly inspired me creatively moving forward.
That period became a turning point for me. I learned how to adapt, pivot, and evolve with both the industry and my own passions. Over the years, my business has transformed from studio newborn and family photography into a more storytelling-driven brand focused on couples, weddings, and capturing authentic love stories. At the same time, I also discovered a passion for working with brands and helping businesses create meaningful content that connects with their audience in a genuine way.
One of the biggest lessons throughout my journey has been learning that growth often requires reinvention. Every season of my career has taught me something valuable, and while change can be uncomfortable, it’s ultimately what helped me build a business that feels more aligned, creative, and fulfilling today.
As you know, we’re big fans of Lindsey Tyler Photo & Film. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business is centered around intentional storytelling and creating an experience that feels just as meaningful as the final imagery itself. Over the past 12 years, I’ve built a photography and hybrid photo/video brand that focuses on capturing authentic connection — whether that’s through weddings and couples, personal milestones, or helping brands visually tell their story in a way that feels elevated and genuine.
I’m primarily known for creating imagery that feels timeless and true to the people in front of my camera. My work blends a documentary-style approach with an editorial feel, allowing moments to unfold naturally while still creating beautiful, artful imagery. Whether I’m documenting a wedding day or creating content for a business, my goal is always the same: to create something that feels real, intentional, and lasting.
What really sets my brand apart is the experience I provide. I wanted to create something that filled a gap in the industry — a space where clients feel genuinely seen, comfortable, and cared for throughout the entire process. I think people connect with the fact that I’m relatable, personable, and deeply invested in the relationships I build with my clients, while also bringing a high level of professionalism and creativity to every project. For me, it’s never just about taking photos; it’s about creating trust, preserving emotion, and helping people feel confident and fully present in their moments.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how much my business has evolved while still staying rooted in authenticity. From my beginnings in newborn and family photography to now specializing in couples, weddings, and brand content creation, every season of growth has been intentional. I’m proud that my business has been built largely through relationships, referrals, and genuine connection over the years. Although my primary focus has shifted to weddings and brands, I am so grateful for the families that come back to me year after year to document their family as they grow.
More than anything, I want readers to know that my brand is about much more than beautiful imagery — it’s about creating an experience where people feel valued, understood, and comfortable enough to fully be themselves. Those are the moments that create the most meaningful photographs and films, and that’s what continues to inspire me every day.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is connection, faith, and the relationships we build throughout life. My faith has been a huge part of both my personal journey and the way I approach my business. It’s grounded me through every season — the growth, the uncertainty, the pivots, and the successes — and it constantly reminds me to lead with kindness, integrity, gratitude, and purpose in the work I do.
My family is also at the center of everything for me. As a mom of 3, I really appreciate the way I began to view time, memories, and the importance of preserving the moments that often pass by too quickly.
I also have a deep passion for supporting other businesses and entrepreneurs, especially fellow small business owners. That part of my work holds a really special place in my heart because I understand firsthand how much passion, sacrifice, and dedication goes into building something from the ground up. Being able to help brands visually tell their story, connect with their audience, and grow their presence in a meaningful way is incredibly fulfilling to me.
In everything I do, what matters most is making people feel truly seen, comfortable, and valued. I believe everyone has a story worth preserving, and I feel incredibly honored to document some of the most meaningful seasons in people’s lives. More than just creating beautiful imagery, I want the experience people have with me to feel genuine, uplifting, and rooted in connection. At the end of the day, I hope my work reflects not only creativity, but also heart, authenticity, and the values I try to live by every day.
