Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcy Randoll.
Marcy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story began in Brazil, where I learned early on that life is best lived with a curious mind and an open heart. I’ve always been driven by a desire to understand the “how” and the “why” of things—a drive that led me to earn my MBA in Process Management in São Paulo. But when I moved to the United States, I realized I wanted to build something more than just a career; I wanted to build a life that bridged my heritage with my new home.
I’ve always believed that the spaces we inhabit shape who we are. That’s why I went back to school for Interior Design once I arrived here. For me, it wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about learning how to create environments where people feel truly seen and connected.
Living in and visiting multiple countries—and exploring 46 U.S. states—has been my greatest education. It taught me how to be adaptable, how to listen across languages (whether I’m speaking Portuguese, Spanish, or English), and how to appreciate the beautiful diversity that makes a community thrive. As an immigrant, I had to learn the art of reinvention. I know what it’s like to build an opportunity from the ground up, and I carry that resilience and work ethic into everything I do today.
St. Charles is where my heart has finally settled. Whether I’m at home with my husband Russ Randoll and our French Bulldog Paçoca or out in the community, I feel a deep connection to the spirit of this place. That passion is what led me to real estate. I don’t just see myself as a Realtor; I see myself as a guide. I use my design background and my love for this area to help my clients find more than just a house—I help them find a place to belong.
My love for our local history eventually took a physical form in Historic Frenchtown. When I saw the 1860s building that would become La Rivière Events, I knew I had to preserve it. I wanted to create a space that honored the past while giving our community a warm, inviting place to celebrate the future.
To me, La Rivière is more than a venue. It’s a place where connections are cultivated and new memories become part of a long, beautiful history. Through my work in design, real estate, and community building, my goal remains the same: to create spaces that bring us together and turn our shared moments into lasting stories.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Moving to the U.S. with my husband, Russ Randoll, was the start of a beautiful adventure, but it also brought challenges I didn’t fully expect. In that first year, I found myself navigating a new country without the familiar safety net of my family or a Brazilian community. It was a deeply personal struggle to find my footing in a culture so different from my own.
Russ was my rock during that time. His encouragement gave me the strength to keep going, and our travels together helped me transform my feelings of isolation into a sense of discovery. By his side, I learned to view every obstacle as an opportunity to learn and grow.
Looking back, I’m grateful for that season of life. It taught me perseverance and helped me build the community and purpose I have today. Those early experiences with Russ shaped me into the person I am today—both personally and professionally
As you know, we’re big fans of La Rivière Events. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
What should we know?
At La Rivière Events, we believe that the most important part of any event is the connection between the people in the room. Located in a lovingly restored 1860 historic building in Frenchtown, St. Charles, our venue is more than just a place to host a party—it is a space designed to inspire. We invite you to discover the charm and elegance of La Rivière Events, your space to celebrate everything from intimate weddings and milestone anniversaries to corporate gatherings and community events.
What do you specialize in and what are you known for?
We specialize in thoughtful curation. Because of my background in interior design, we are known for an aesthetic that balances historic character with modern sophistication. Our clients come to us when they want a venue that feels upscale but also incredibly warm. We are known for our attention to detail—the kind that ensures every guest feels welcomed and every moment feels intentional.
What sets you apart from others?
What truly sets us apart is the global perspective I bring to the space. My professional experience in both Brazil and the U.S. allows me to blend different cultural sensibilities of hospitality. We don’t just provide a room; we provide a designer’s eye and a personal touch that makes the venue feel like an extension of your own style. We prioritize the “feeling” of an event just as much as the “look.”
What are you most proud of, brand-wise?
I am most proud of our role as stewards of history. It is a deep honor to preserve the architectural heritage of Historic Frenchtown while transforming it into a vibrant, living space. I love that our brand bridges the gap between the 1860s and the modern day, proving that meaningful connections are timeless.
What do you want our readers to know about your brand and services?
We want you to know that at La Rivière, you aren’t just booking a venue; you are partnering with a team that cares deeply about your story. We don’t just “host” events—we create the environment where your most important memories unfold. Every detail was thought of to make La Rivière a space where people will always remember the joy and connection they felt. Whether you are looking for an elegant backdrop for your wedding or a creative hub for your next community meeting, we are here to make it feel personal, joyful, and truly one-of-a-kind.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is gathering with my family in the kitchen while my mom prepared our famous creamy corn cake—the smell of it baking and the scent of cookies with nutmeg always filled the house. I also remember my dad making cuscuz and coffee, and how the aroma would spread through the entire house—truly amazing. I remember the joy and laughter of our New Year celebrations, with everyone together, sharing stories, and enjoying each other’s company.
I loved the freedom of childhood—playing with friends on the street, riding little carts, flying kites, and going to school. One of my favorite places at school was the science lab, where I could explore and try new experiments, feeding my curiosity and love for learning. There are so many happy memories, from reading my favorite books, with The Little Prince always by my bedside, to trips to the beach, which I adored even as a child.
Looking back, these memories capture the simple joys, curiosity, and warmth of family and community that have shaped who I am today.
