Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Haefner.
Hi Mark, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was a family law attorney working in a midsized firm in Kansas when I needed to get divorced. Seeing how much stress and money it was costing my clients, I decided to try and do an uncontested divorce for myself, which was a lot faster, cheaper, and much less stress. I approached my boss about trying to do more of these, and was told that it was not a good business practice to try and get cases done so quickly and so cheaply. I then decided to start my own firm, and have had to really build up the business over many years to ensure that there is a volume of clients that need our help rather than just a few that we bill more.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not. It has taken a very long time to work out the issues, build up a buisiness with pleanty of clients, and figuring out how to get the word out about the firm and the benefits of using Haefner Law Office. it also took a long time to build up a great team that understands the dedication we have to ensuring that our clients are getting extremely good legal help for a fraction of what a typical divorce matter would cost.
We’ve been impressed with Haefner Law Office, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a law firm that focuses exclusively on family law. We have also learned how to best maximize the process so that we can offer flat rate pricing on uncontested cases while ensuring that the documents we draft for your case are personalized, specific to your wants and needs, and will provide protection long after the documents are signed. We have a great team in place that knows the family law process, what dangers to look out for, and to protect the client from things that may happen in the future.
I am probably most proud of the fact that we are able to deliver top notch legal work for significantly lower cost than a typical divorce, as well as being recognized by our peers for also being extremely good when it comes to the more traditional divorce litigation.
My office has no billible hour requirement for our employees. I do not want work to be unnecessarily created just to increase billable hours. We have a strong focus on ensuring that our clients are getting the best work at a reasonable price.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think that having a great team in place is the real key to success. Each person in the firm is focused on how we can best help our clients, and each role is different but equally as important. Having the team know family law, the Judges, the policies and proceedures (as well as the law) allows us to deliver value that most other firms are not able to provide.
Pricing:
- Uncontested divorces start at $1,500
- Contested hearings where no evidence is presented are a flat rate of $750 per appearance. No suprises.
