Exploring Life & Business with Meaghan Knobbe of Meaghan’s Creations LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meaghan Knobbe.

Hi Meaghan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I was pregnant with our first child 9 years ago, my husband, Nick, got me an embroidery machine for Christmas. I didn’t even know how to plug it in, so it sat in the box for a few months. After I finally set it up, I taught myself all I could about embroidery. After our son was born two years later, I transitioned from being a 2nd grade teacher to staying home full-time. I’d spend nap times monogramming everything!
In June of 2022, when our kids were just 5 and 3, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I completed 16 rounds of chemotherapy over 20 weeks and that’s actually when my business really started to pick up. I was homebound from feeling so sick, having surgery, and completing radiation – so embroidery was a form of therapy for me. It was my creative outlet during some really dark times. Business was booming and I was able to upgrade and purchase 2 multi-needle machines. Since then, I’ve been monogramming for some local schools and businesses as well. I truly love what I get to do every day.
I am forever grateful to those that believed in me and allowed me to personalize their life’s special moments – especially while I was fighting for mine.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road! I am completely self-taught, so there has definitely been a lot of trial and error. I’ve had to learn when to use various stabilizers, needles, and threads. I’ve ruined more items than I can count. I’ve underpriced my work and overstocked some supplies. I don’t have a mentor, so I’ve had to pave my own way. I’m still not 100% confident in my business model, but I’m working on it!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Meaghan’s Creations LLC?
Meaghan’s Creations LLC specializes in custom embroidery, applique, and monograms. I love creating children’s clothing, gifts for all occasions, and personal keepsakes. Each item is thoughtfully designed and totally customizable. The customer can choose colors, styles, fonts, and more! I love when clients know exactly what they want, and also love when they leave some of the creative decisions up to me.
When working with schools, I donate money from each purchase back to the school’s Parent/Teacher Organization. I’ve been able to donate over $1000 this past school year and hope to do even more!

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I enjoy listening to the Mel Robbins Podcast when I need a little encouragement or inspiration. The Atomic Habits book has been great for me personally and professionally. I follow some other Embroidery accounts on social media, which has also been super helpful!
