Today we’d like to introduce you to Pat Upchurch
Hi Pat, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Beginning at an early age, I learned to cook from my chef Dad. My love and passion started at his side on a small step ladder. I also learned from my Grandmother, a great cook, who always made the best cheesecakes (…the best everything!). When she decided to not make her cheesecake (and other desserts and food) anymore, she gave me her recipe and mixer — how awesome is that!
I started making cheesecakes for family and friends in my kitchen just like my Grandmother. As the demand grew and with the urging and prompting of loved ones, I ventured out to begin a food business. Hence, the fun and great adventure in the cheesecake world began.
I am passionate about spreading happiness and joy through food and business. I created Patty’s Cheesecakes to continue and honor my Grandma’s, Dad’s and family legacy — to spread happiness and joy! The inspiration for Patty’s is my grandmother’s recipe and the joy she and my Dad brought to every family gathering with their delicious creations. We are where we are today because of that legacy, hard work and great community connection.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We have been blessed. With that, there have been challenges. Scaling from one stage to another has given us some challenges. It involved adjusting/changing our processes and workflow. We learned (and are still learning) how to adapt to growth. Staffing has also been one of our challenges (as so many businesses have encountered). Again, we have adjusted with the high and lows of staffing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We offer artisan cheesecake and bakery products. We specialize in beautiful uniquely packaged mini cheesecakes – our Petite Cheesecakes. They are just the right size for one person and available in classic and innovative flavors.
Our inspiration comes from my Grandmother’s recipe and the joy she brought to every family gathering with her delicious creations. Continuing that tradition of love and spreading joy, we’ve established our presence at the City Foundry in St. Louis, MO, while also catering events and weddings, and supplying our cheesecakes to 33 local grocery stores, several restaurants, hospital cafe and hotel across the Metro Area.

Adding a dessert truck to our event and wedding business. Expanding our retail business (additional locations) and
