Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Balzaretti.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Richard Balzaretti and I have had the pleasure of working in Distribution for the last 14 years. I can finally say now that I have worked my way up the ladder throughout Corporate America.
Once I got to my final step in my career as a Key Account Executive, I finally snapped into Reality deciding to go into business for myself.
My wife, Maria Balzaretti and I founded our company, Gateway Apparel & Branding back in May 2024.
We started out working part time for the business up until May 2025.
Since then we have achieved significant growth and success as we have applied ourselves full time.
We realized that not every person is driven the same way as others. We were working a full time job of 50-60 hours a week, receiving no extra compensation.
We told ourselves that we should take the leap and just go into business for ourselves. It’s nice being able to control the controllable and your own mistakes. If you’re a hard worker, you will achieve success. Dedication and hard work motivate other’s to become more driven. Find a friend or someone that is committed and dedicated to working just as hard as you do. Communicate with them and talk about business to become more motivated to achieving greater success.
A wise friend of mine created a program called “BYOB” at my former work of employment. BYOB is the acronym created for “Be You Only Better”.
If you really think about this, it’s very impactful with meaning behind it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s always a rough patch and scary when starting something new. You will fail eventually, but if you have the positive mentality to pick yourself up and do it again, you’ll eventually get there! You learn from your mistakes and that’s what makes you better in the long run to achieve more greatness.
