Today we’d like to introduce you to TaCherish Johnson the owner of Caked By Cherish LLC.
TaCherish Johnson is the owner and founder of Caked By Cherish, which is featured on The Knot & Wedding Wire. Her specialty is customized cakes. Her designs are beyond aesthetically pleasing and the cake flavors are deliciously mouth-watering. She developed her company at the age of 19 years old. She discovered her talent at a very young age. When she was eight years old, she loved watching Food Network. Her favorite shows were Paula’s best dishes, Cake Boss, and Cupcake Wars.
Many may have watched these shows just for entertainment, but not TaCherish. She watched these shows for inspiration. Even at a young age, she would get in the kitchen with her mother and try to recreate the beautiful dishes she saw on TV. What started as an inspiration and an uncultivated gift quickly grew into a burning passion. She was so dedicated that she convinced her mother to dual enroll her into two high schools she attended, both McCluer High school and North Technical High school. At McCluer, she took her general studies and at North Technical, she received her trade in Culinary Arts.
After she graduated from high school, she furthered her education by attending Forest Park Community College, one of the best Baking and Pastry Programs in the nation. She moved on to receive her degree in Baking and Pastry Arts and became a certified Pastry Chef. She spent years working in the field and sharpening her skills. Today, TaCherish is a successful Pastry Chef who is also a Saint Louis native that is inspired by her community and firmly believes in reaching out to her community and investing in her people. Caked By Cherish is proudly STL Made.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning and operating Caked By Cherish LLC has not been easy. Running a business is a lot of work. There’s so much to do to keep the business running smoothly, like prepping, marketing, media, photography, delivery, decorating, cleaning, paperwork and most of all, baking. But nevertheless, the challenges only makes us stronger. I love my business and all the amazing client’s faces I get to put a smile on everyday.
