Exploring Life & Business with Tasha Knight of Web Design by Knight

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Knight.

Hi Tasha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In life, sometimes you find your passion—and sometimes your passion finds you. That’s what happened to me.
I’m Tasha Knight, founder of Web Design by Knight and Zero Click World. My journey in technology and website design began long before either company existed.

In 1996, while building and managing a university library’s computer network, I became fascinated with how technology connects people, ideas, and businesses. I’ve been following that path ever since.

As my career grew, I became a Microsoft Certified Trainer and wrote an Exam Cram for Windows 2000 Server (MCSE). More importantly, I learned not just how technology works—but how to explain it clearly, simply, and in ways that actually help people use it.

In 2001, I launched Web Design by Knight, a boutique web design and management firm built on creativity, usability, and responsiveness. Every client works directly with our U.S.-based team and receives personal attention that feels like an extension of their own staff.

After more than 25 years in web design, strategy, and digital innovation, I still love solving problems and helping my clients grow their businesses. Last year, AI-driven discovery really began reshaping how people find information. So launching Zero Click World felt like a natural next step. Today, we help businesses adapt, stay relevant, and thrive in the age of AI-driven search and marketing. Our client base is nationwide and we serve everyone from local Main Street businesses to national companies with numerous locations.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me running, reading, exploring the outdoors, or spending time with my family and our dog.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges I have faced has been building and leading a woman-owned, woman-operated business in an industry historically dominated by men. But I like to think that I’ve proven myself equal to the task, and then some.

I grew the company from the ground up with a strong technical foundation in website design, development, and problem-solving, but without formal business training. That meant learning many lessons the hard way through experience, persistence, and a willingness to adapt.
As the business has grown, I’ve also faced the challenge of expanding beyond web design to better support our clients’ evolving needs, which has led me to add services such as digital marketing, social media management, video production, and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems.

Each expansion has required thoughtful growth, new expertise, and scalable processes, ultimately strengthening the company and allowing us to serve our clients more holistically.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Web Design by Knight, we provide comprehensive website design, website management, website security, and marketing services focused on long-term success—not quick wins.
Personal service is at the core of everything we do. We go far beyond launching websites; we partner with our clients to ensure their sites remain secure, functional, and effective as their businesses grow and evolve. Our clients work directly with a dedicated, U.S.-based team that understands their business, goals, and history. We never outsource work overseas, and we don’t treat projects as one-size-fits-all solutions. This approach allows us to deliver higher-quality work, faster communication, and a level of accountability that’s difficult to achieve with outsourced or rotating teams.

We support business owners at every stage, from startup to succession. Because we take a strategic, hands-on approach to everything we do, our clients know they can count on us—and many stay with us for years. This long-term partnership model results in very low turnover and deep relationships built on trust. Our reputation has been built on consistent results, responsiveness, and reliability.

Because of that trust, we’ve been able to let our clients speak for us. From the beginning, referrals and word of mouth have been vital to our growth. We’ve never relied on paid advertising or aggressive sales tactics, and we don’t have to.

In addition to web design, we support our clients with related services including digital marketing, content strategy, social media, video, and CRM systems. By keeping these services in-house, we create a cohesive digital presence that works seamlessly together—allowing our clients to focus on running their businesses while we manage the day-to-day needs of their online presence and visibility.

Clients recommend us because they know we’re invested in their success and stand behind our work long after a project is completed.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m especially drawn to historical fiction, and Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors. I appreciate her strong focus on women and the way she brings women’s voices, resilience, and experiences to the forefront of historical moments.

As per work that relates to my field, I’m a faithful listener of Nathaniel Whittemore’s podcast, The AI Daily Brief. It’s one of my go-to resources for staying informed about the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence.
