Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Hayes.
Hi Felicia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I always knew I wanted to own my own business but was never really sure of what it would be. I was hired by an administrator in a facility as their social service director and spent a few years doing that. When COVID hit I decided to quit my job and start an in home care business to keep individuals in their homes. My first client I took care of I would sit and talk to her about a home I would one day like to purchase and turn in to a care home for elderly, she would always tell me she knew I would make that happen because when I set my mind to something I was determined to get it done. Long story short here I am five years in owning a small 11 bed residential care home and a small private home. I enjoy being able to care for others and small enough that I can spend time with my residents and get to know each and everyone of them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been an easy road. When I purchased my care home I was unaware of having to install a sprinkler system so that set me back to a little. Since it’s been installed I had basically been full.
