Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Vanhooser.
Hi Hannah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began playing the harp when I was ten years old! From my first lesson, I was hooked. I have made a career out of performing and teaching, and I absolutely love what I get to do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have had many failures while I’ve been a freelance musician. Those failures have taught me more than I could ever have learned if someone handed me a manual outlining exactly what to do to succeed.. Although hard-learned, I have internalized these lessons. I don’t take myself too seriously, but I most definitely take my business seriously. I have high expectations for each lesson I teach. I treat each performance like the crowd is full of thousands of people- even when I am playing to 5 people at a restaurant.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Harpistry St. Louis?
The name of my business is Harpistry St. Louis, and I specialize in harp/vocal covers of popular songs that everyone knows and loves. I have so much fun learning music that has been requested for weddings and other events. I believe my business is unique because I can add a touch of customization to anything you’re planning, and quite a big dash of elegance. I can play and sing, or simply provide instrumental music. I have played for almost every kind of event- just reach out and we can start the conversation about your needs.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up an avid reader and had a high aptitude for music and schoolwork. I was shy as a child, but in high school I was very involved in marching band, which created lifelong friendships. I have been blessed with lots of really amazing, solid friends.
