Hidden Gems: Meet Kat Johnson of Top Key Properties

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Johnson.

Hi Kat, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
In 2013, I opened my first business “Kat’s Closet Boutique” which quickly grew into a local Mobile Boutique. I took my boutique on wheels to events, businesses, and parks around the St. Louis area until January of 2018 when I decided it was time to make a change.

My real motivation for switching businesses was to find something where I could truly make a difference in lives and so that I didn’t have to work nights and weekends anymore… little did I know, in real estate, you work lots of nights and weekends!

Now, in my 5th year of real estate, I’m in the top 15 agents in my office out of 700+ agents, loving every minute of helping families find the home they deserve!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Real estate truly is not always a smooth road! There is so much problem-solving along the way in every transaction.

Some transactions are extremely quick, easy, and smooth… others go south for a multitude of reasons! I think the biggest learning curve of this business is the lack of experience whenever you first start. As you have issues arise, there is no class or training that will prepare you enough on how to handle them.

Not to mention, you’re dealing with people’s emotions along the way! This is why I’m particularly biased to be a part of Keller Williams Realty St. Louis. Not only is their culture second to none, but there are also so many experienced agents who and willing to jump in to help anytime.

I truly attribute my success to the strong foundation of knowledge that Keller Williams laid out for me as a new agent.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Top Key Properties?
I’m a real estate agent, owner of Top Key Properties powered by Keller Williams, and I’m specifically known for specializing in helping the move up buyers go from their first house to their next home – generally, growing families, blended families, couples looking to start a family in the future, or people who need more room for their fur babies!

What sets me apart from other real estate agents is that I serve the clients well, above and beyond, throughout the entire process and beyond. I don’t look at transactions as a one-time deal to get a paycheck, I’m truly here to educate, empower, and enable families to make the best decisions for now and the future! Once you work with me, you’re inducted into the Top Key Community and are showered with events, gifts, giveaways, deals from vendors and so much more. We basically become best friends for life!

My brand is something that I pride myself on. When you go to hire a realtor, it is so important to check and make sure that they have a well-rounded brand, website, and social media presence. After all, you’re hiring them to potentially market your home or help you find one!

My brand is a huge part of how I get homes sold so quickly. I have found homes for my buyers through social media on so many occasions that it’s starting to become a natural place for me to look for off-market properties.

What does success mean to you?
I define success as meeting my client’s goals or needs in the timeframe they’ve given me. If they need to have their home sold in 30 days and into another home before school starts, it becomes my top priority to make that happen.

Whatever I can do along the way to go above and beyond to make the process that much easier, I will do it!
