Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Eades.
Madeline, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After several years in sales and marketing, and after the birth of my 4th child, I decided to embark into entrepreneurship. I’m not exactly sure why I thought I could since I am the first business owner of my family. I had a dream and a love of fashion curating and the ability to adapt to chaotic and creative situations as well as a very self motivated and driven person. I had about $1,000 left in my savings, Covid gave me the motivation and the time to explore the thought of starting my own business. I never had any expectations of where it would go. It was purely organic, just a way to pass the time. I took that last $1,000 and built a literal wooden clothing rack and bought enough clothes to fill it. I converted my dining room into my boutique. First live selling on Facebook and a website. As time went on and Covid began to pass, I began inviting people to shopping events I hosted in my home. I outgrew that quickly and expanded into a brick and Mortar.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been full of ups and downs, highs and lows. many road blocks and set backs. lots of laughs and tears. In the beginning I struggled to get people to know about my business in the first place. Struggled to pick the right products and understand picking a demographic. You find your way through the wins and losses. I settled on a mid age boutique style because that’s who I am that is my age, how I dress. You can loose your way when you try to identify outside of that. I just stay true to who I am and the things I like. But I will Say people of all ages find something in our store to take home. I mostly love to hear about the compliments they get while wearing our items.
As you know, we’re big fans of Coco+ Oak Boutique. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Coco+Oak Is a mid age women’s boutique but honestly I have customers of many ages young to old. We are known for our trendy clothes, affordable prices and our constant changing window displays. We have added in a beauty bar that specializes in weight loss with laser lipo and partnered in a peptide company carrying all the hottest peptides and having a provider team. That makes a unique a one stop look good feel good location. We are a lifestyle and focus on lifting people up inside and out. We often make friends of our patrons as we truly care about each of them and love spending time getting to know each of them.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I think people are surprised to know that I have 4 children one in every age of life and still manage to do all the mom and wife things while running and building a forever growing and changing business. I have an amazing husband and kids. There support means everything to me. I couldn’t do it without that. I am always continuing to educate myself and to grow as a business owner, wife and mother. The only competition I ever see is my own. How can I do better, be better. I find so much joy in what I do. I am at my best under pressure and operate well multitasking.
