Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori Hixson
Hi Tori, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I never actually thought I would be a business owner or even work in the wedding industry! I went to school for filmmaking and had dreams of being a screenwriter out in Los Angeles. But the reality of student loans and the cost of living out in California hit, so I stayed in Missouri. I started looking around to see what film jobs were available in the St. Louis area and found there wasn’t a lot. But then I found an ad for a wedding videographer. So I went in for my interview and got hired on the spot.
I worked with this company for almost 2 years, learning everything I could about wedding videography and the wedding industry. And after some consideration, I decided to start my own business! I absolutely loved filming weddings and wanted to be able to edit my own films and get my own clients. So that’s what I did!
After a few years, I finally decided to go full-time with my business and quit my other job I had at the time. It was the best decision I had ever made! Now 8 years after beginning my business and 10 years in the industry, Tori Danielle Weddings is still going strong.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t. Starting a business from scratch was hard. Getting couples to put trust in me to film their wedding when I didn’t have a huge portfolio was a challenge and learning more and more about videography was a lot harder years ago compared to what it is today.
Also navigating another full-time job, while growing a business, brought a lot of challenges along the way. This job, a 9-5 office job, took a lot of my time so that when I was home that time was dedicated to my business. It was stressful!

Tori Danielle Weddings is a wedding videography company that serves couples in the St. Louis area and beyond. We offer full coverage wedding videography, meaning we are there with our couples all day, and we deliver cinematic highlight films — alongside other offerings. My approach to videography is candid and letting the day and moments play out in front of us. I also capture audio throughout the day to really help our couples relive their day as their watching their film back.
I work with my husband and I think that definitely helps us stand out, as we have been through a wedding ourselves! We make sure to really get to know our couples and learn their story so that on their wedding day they are comfortable with us and feel like they chose the right videographers for the job.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love so much about St. Louis! My husband and I are big into St. Louis sports, so we love that we have so many teams to attend games for. There’s also so much to do, and even free things! The food scene. And the fact that it just feels like home. Plus filming weddings in St. Louis is so much fun because of the variety of venues and locations we get to go to. It’s a great city to get married in!
What I like least is the reputation it has. Living across the bridge, you hear about the negativity towards the city. And while, yes, there are parts of the city that can be dangerous — that’s every city! I hate that people don’t want to experience St. Louis due to the things they hear about or even see on TV.
