We’re looking forward to introducing you to Imene McCoy. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Imene, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Many people don’t realize that wedding dress shopping isn’t just retail—it’s a deeply personal and intimate experience. At its best, it’s filled with hospitality, thoughtful details, and emotional connection. We’re not just selling a gown; we’re guiding someone through a once-in-a-lifetime moment, making her feel seen, celebrated, and cared for every step of the way
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Imene McCoy, the owner and founder of Savvy Bridal Collective, with locations in Kansas City, St. Louis, and Fort Lauderdale. I launched Savvy with a simple but powerful vision—to create a bridal shopping experience that combines luxury hospitality with attainable elegance. We operate entirely by appointment, giving every bride our undivided attention in a warm, welcoming environment that feels as personal as it does elevated.
What makes Savvy unique is that we’re not just selling wedding dresses—we’re guiding women through one of the most emotional and memorable purchases of their lives. Over the past decade, we’ve perfected our ‘Savvy Experience,’ ensuring every detail is intentional, from the way a bride is greeted to the moment she says yes to her dress.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My mother taught me the most about work. As a single mom, she never dropped a ball when it came to motherhood or her career. She worked tirelessly to maintain a high standard for herself and for us. One of my fondest memories is helping her clean a four-story attorney’s office on weekends so she could save up to take us on vacation. My younger brother and I would vacuum and change out trash cans alongside her—week after week, taking the train together across London. Watching her tackle everything with determination, grace, and purpose showed me what true work ethic and commitment look like.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely—many times. That’s the reality of true entrepreneurship. There are moments when the challenges feel overwhelming, when the risks seem too high, and when the easier choice would be to walk away. But the harder the hit, the harder I try. I always tell myself, ‘How long can you withstand the pain?’ and remind myself that ‘Pressure makes diamonds.’ That mindset keeps me focused, resilient, and unwilling to give up—no matter how tough it gets.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes—the public version of me is the real me, but it’s the most polished version. What you see is someone who loves what she does, works hard, and shows up with confidence. Behind the scenes, I’m just as driven, but I’m also constantly learning, problem-solving, and navigating the same challenges any entrepreneur faces. I don’t believe in creating a persona that’s disconnected from reality—what you see is me, just in my best light
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
This one is easy for me—my team. They are the heartbeat of Savvy. Most people see the beautiful gowns and the happy brides, but I know that none of it works without the people behind the scenes making it happen every day. My job is to build and maintain the infrastructure that allows them to shine—clear systems, strong training, and a culture that supports them. When my team thrives, our company thrives. Investing in and pouring into my team is my top priority, and in return, our customers receive service filled with love and gratitude.
