Inspiring Conversations with Brian Faucett of The Law Offices of Brian M. Faucett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Faucett.

Hi Brian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Arnold, raised in Oakville, then lived in the city for 10 years after law school. While in law school, I worked for Land of Lincoln, specializing exclusively in domestic abuse matters involving victims suffering through poverty as well.

After law school, I served as local counsel in an employment discrimination suit where a St. Louis City jury found Harris Stowe liable for violating the Missouri Human Rights Act when it terminated the employment of a teacher based on her race. This allowed me to open my own practice wherein I could focus on the areas of law I felt most passionate about, i.e. domestic abuse.

Through my practice in this area, I have been appointed the lead special prosecutor for order of protection violations in St. Louis County. I also serve as a board member for St. Louis Survivors Legal Support (https://www.slsls.org/)

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Unfortunately, I do not think any family law attorney would describe practicing in the area of domestic abuse, especially in St. Louis. All family law attorney’s in this area deal with very dire situations, at a moment’s notice.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I specialize in family law, and often cases that involve domestic abuse. My work as a special prosecutor for order of protection violation matters is likely what sets me apart the most. St. Louis County has developed this docket over the last several years, and it is the only one in the country. We often have judges from all over the country come to watch our dockets to bring our process to their state.

I am most proud of my work with SLSLS however, it is a wonderful organization dedicated to a wonderful cause.

What does success mean to you?
I tend to measure my success by the help I provide victims/survivors, and the importance of this cause. Secondarily, I would like to have a good reputation amongst my fellow attorneys, although I cannot confirm or deny that yet. Thirdly, I am 10 years into doing what I do, and I still want to do it, and still am passionate about it. Most people do not want to do what I do.
